NOTE: When class beings, REDMOND Rule of Law: PUT YOUR CELL PHONE

AWAY. TURN OFF THE RINGER. DO NOT HAVE THE PHONE OUT. PERIOD.

Final Project: (250 points). Your assignments during the semester will prepare you to execute a Final Project Presentation. You will essentially present a 5:00 segment as if it’s being broadcast for TV or a Webcast. Take note of segments on GMA or The Today Show… they are usually 5:00 in length. You must include one guest to join you in the presentation. You will pitch the idea to me via email. IF I approve you are green to go. More details later.

Show and Tell: (10 points). Send to me a website link the FRIDAY before our class of a video example that shows off the work of someone you admire or find oddly curious doing an on-cam presentation. Reporter? Anchor? Sportscaster? Public Relations Presenter? I must screen the clip in advance. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of your selection. Only send in ONE show and tell example per week. For example, do not send three or four examples at a time.

Mid-Term Exam: (50 points). March 6, 2017 . This exam will be given during our regular class period. The test will cover everything we’ve discussed up to exam time. In-Class Exercises: 85 points). In class scenarios are designed to explore realistic situations in front of the camera and/or in front of people at a public or corporate event. You will be graded on your preparation, execution and the level of your confidence in class. Two Quizzes: (20 points). You will be given two quizzes designed to test your retention of media performance concepts. Each quiz is valued at 10 points each. Homework: (85 points). Throughout the semester you will complete audio assignments and do research assignments away from the classroom setting. The use of a smart phone will be an important tool to record interviews, pronunciation and ad-lib exercises.
