Clémentine Beauvais’ naturally brilliant and one-of-a-kind new novel! The only author in the world who can turn a work expe-rience report… into a funny, moving, lively, sensi-tive, intelligent and captivating novel.

Following a new Presidential directive, all 16 year olds must complete a year of community service somewhere in France. Unfortunately for Valentin Lemonnier, instead of his first choice, he is sent to the Pas-de-Calais, in the North of France, to work in a care home for old people with Alzheimer’s, carefully reconstructed to look like a village from the 1960s. His first task seems fairly simple - write a letter to a resident who entered a popular 1967 radio show compe-tition, to inform them that unfortunately, the singer Françoise Hardy would not be able to perform in their town.

But breaking bad news is hard. So, he does the opposite. Françoise Hardy would love to come! He would see to it personally. All he has to do now is find a Fran-çoise Hardy look-alike to come and sing one her hits to all the residents. As he searches for Françoise Hardy in the Hauts-de-France, Valentin ma-tures, as does his love for writing. His friendship with Sola Perré, his work experience manager, grows, and she has something to hide – something that, unlike the residents, she cannot forget…

Une fille de perdue

Between family secrets and hopes of redemption, mothers and daugh-ters destroy or piece each other back together from one generation to the next… Deeply moving.

“One morning, you left me. Just like that. Without warning. You handed me a let-ter – you, who never writes - to tell me it was over. You, my beautiful Aurélie, my everything.I don’t understand, even if you say there is nothing to understand. I’m still looking for reasons, going round and round in circles. My friends, Blaise and Jen, and my other family, the Tissiers, Pierre, Euclide and Albert, the three Maths geniuses, try to snap me out of it. But the wound is deepe-ning, reopening another hidden one, deeper still. How can I stop myself from drowning?”

CLAIRE RENAUDClaire Renaud was born in Paris. She graduated in Philosophy and is a Children’s Book editor at Fleurus. She started writing for children (Victor et Philomène, L’École des Loisirs, 2012), and adults (Débou-

A break-up, lived and told by a sensitive boy – with its share of intensity and craziness – just like in real life!

Ceux qui traversent la mer reviennent

toujours à pied

Bardu is like a grumpy old man who is beginning to feel a bit lonely. Un-til he picks up a hitchhiker, Julien, an 18 year old orphan with nowhere to go. Bardu invites him to join him onboard the Meursault, a boat he is transporting cannabis on, “without smoking it, the stuff’s disgusting!”. But during one of their stopovers, an illegal immigrant, Exaucée, whose hair is as explosive as her name, messes up their plans. Exaucée is Congolese and has nothing except her life, that she wants to live in France, forcing them to leave Sicily without paying the mafia. And so, begins a race for their lives, punctuated by crazy and unsettling encounters…

MARINE VEITHMarine Veith was born in Quebec and grew up in Montpellier. After studying political science in Lyon and journalism in Paris, she spent eight months backpacking in India. After this experience, she worked as a journalist in La Reunion, Morocco and South Africa. The more

she met a lot of different people as a journalist, the more she wanted to tackle the issue of immigration. Back in France for a few years, she

returned to her roots and now teaches French in a secondary school in Mont-pellier. Ceux qui traversent la mer reviennent toujours à pied is her first novel.

An adventure on the open sea in a bold debut novel! An exciting high-speed chase involving two friendly

crooks, a migrant and a gang of dangerous criminals…

Bordeterre

Inès, 12 years old, is the kind of girl to punch anyone who messes with her autistic 16 year-old brother, Tristan. Whereas Tristan is the kind of boy to look both ways before crossing the road. But one day, he watches helplessly as his sister runs af-ter her dog… and falls into a parallel universe, Bordeterre. A town perched on a rift between two realities. Anyone who enters can never leave. There are children who sing to make the windmill turn, lords fishing for rocks, rebellious scrap mer-chants with chicken-drawn trailers… and strange creatures. Inès is delighted. She explores Bordeterre, happily sniffing it out like the dog she followed there. But Tristan is uneasy - there is something rotten about this town.

JULIA THÉVENOTBorn in Tours in 1990, Julia Thévenot said at six that she wanted to become

a writer - "next to a real job" because she had a sense of reality. After linguis-tics studies, a law degree and a Publishing Master, she decided to specialize in children's literature - because of J. K. Rowling and Clémentine Beauvais. (It's their fault.) She launched a literary blog (Allez vous faire lire) then be-

came publishing assistant at Sarbacane (for novels and comics), and finally writer. Bordeterre is her first novel.

When joy, appetite and movement meet the highly codi-fied genre of the fantasy novel and shake things up!!

A debut novel in the same vein as La Passe-miroir (Christelle Dabos).
