Highlights
Over 70 participants attended our first ever Virtual State Leader-
ship Conference!
In the face of an unprecedented challenge, the Georgia PBL Exec-
utive Committee knew that it could not stand idly by and let the
hard work and dedication of its members go uncelebrated. As
soon as we received word that the Shelter in Place order was go-
ing into effect in late March, we set to work on developing our plan
to bring the State Leadership Conference to each of our members
in the comfort of their own home!
The GSLC Facebook group served as our conference room. In
this group, we posted all of our conference content. The state of-
ficers and executive committee made welcome videos, with Mr.
Antonio Watkins as our Keynote Speaker on opening night.
Throughout the next few days, presenters provided workshop vide-
os on topics like dress code in a virtual environment, managing
finances during a pandemic, the benefits of keeping a journal, and
learning to be kinder to yourself.
On Thursday night, the State Awards were presented by your 2019
-2020 state officer team! Speaking of state officers, your 2020-
2021 state officer candidates campaigned and gave a two minute
speech about themselves.
The VSLC culminated on Monday night with the Awards Ceremo-
ny. Members of the Executive Committee presented the new of-
ficer slate, events awards, scholarships, Adviser of the Year,
Chapter of the Year, and Business Person of the Year. Donna
Lawrence provided a special thank you to Kim Yevak, for over 10
years of service on the Executive Committee. Instead of the con-
ference in review video, we got to see a Year in Review based on
pictures submitted from chapters throughout the year.
This was a one of a kind endeavor! It is because of all of you, the
members, that it was such a success!

50th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration
Columbus Tech
On February 6 2020, the March of Dimes kicked off with their annual luncheon in the Chattahoochee Val-
ley. The luncheon was held at the Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center to help celebrate the 50th
Anniversary for the March of Dimes. The crowd included team captains, top fundraisers for the area, as well
as sponsors. Their fundraising season culminated with the Annual March of Dimes March for Babies walk
on April 25, 2020 at Woodruff Park in Columbus, Georgia. In attendance at the kickoff was Leatha Cyprian,
Chapter Advisor, Jamal Wimberly, Chapter Co-Advisor, and member Silvana Rucker, Parliamentarian. They
were able to receive all sorts of great fundraising ideas and
information to help the team be the top fundraisers this year, as
they were last year for PBL. CTC won for “Chapter of The Year”
in the state for the most funds raised then, they went on to win
3rd place at the National Competition.
With all the excitement, and being amped up by the kickoff,
CTC Phi Beta Lambda’s Chapter also hosted a “Jeans for Babies
Week” on Monday March 16 – Thursday March 19. What way
to better start the spring than by supporting a good cause and
wearing jeans at the same time?! The cost of the Jean’s Week
stickers was $5.00 per day or $20.00 for the entire week. In
addition to Jeans Week, we set up in the student center on
March 16th with a representative to speak on MOD. We had
raffle tickets available to win a gift. Unfortunately, Covid-19 shut
it down after one day, but we were able to raise $108 on March
16. We look forward to next year...

FBLA-PBL Leadership Day
South Georgia Technical College—Americus
The Americus Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda held its 4th Annual FBLA-PBL Leadership Day event on Thursday,
February 20th. The three-hour workshop featured PBL Advisor Dr. Andrea Oates facilitating leadership-
building exercises for three area FBLA chapters from Americus Sumter High School, Taylor County High
School, and Webster County High School. Capacity-building activities included a mix-n-mingle icebreaker, per-
sonality tests, an abbreviated Myers-Briggs inspired assessment including career guidance, communications
exercises, as well as team building activities. In all, there were fifty-two FBLA members and five FBLA advisors
in attendance. The chapter appreciates the support of Georgia PBL Executive Committee State advisor and
local SGTC PBL advisor Donna Lawrence.

Spring Activities!
North Georgia Tech—Blairsville
Hello from North Georgia Technical College—Blairsville Campus Phi Beta Lambda! Our PBL chapter has
been busy with fun activities this spring. In February, we held FBLA-PBL Week and everyone on our
campus participated in the activities. On February 28, we went to Central Georgia Technical College for the
Georgia PBL District Competition and competed in competitive events. All eight members that compet-
ed placed in their events, we had an awesome time playing PBL bingo and really enjoyed combining North
and South Districts. In March we raised money for the March of Dimes by holding a mini walk on campus,
the support from the student body was overwhelming. NGTC faculty and staff supported PBL by partici-
pating in Jeans for Babies. With all the support of our wonderful campus, we were able to raise money for
a great cause. In the beginning of March, our chap-
ter held a community service project that collect-
ed canned goods for our local food bank. We
found out that after the holidays our food bank
shelves become depleted and need canned foods
for families in our community. We love helping our
community and look forward to planning more
community service projects soon.

In February they hosted the annual FBLA day where students from four high school and middle schools
participated in workshops and team building activities along with a guest speaker.
In late February, the chapter held a “Soup Cookoff” at the campus. Proceeds are being used to purchase
luggage for children in foster care.

Reva Harvey, VP of State Projects
Greeting to my Phi Beta Lambda family!
First and foremost, I would like to thank each and everyone of you:
Those that voted for me, those who entreated me for advice or
assistance throughout the 2019-2020 year. As your state officer,
there were some things that I wish I had been able to do to better
serve you; I just was not able to fulfill those during my term due to
unprecedented circumstances. The bright side of it all is these same
duties can still be accomplished with or without a title.
As I reflect back over this year as your state officer, I can’t help but
reminisce over the amazing friendships that have been created with some of you and how even stronger
friendship bonds were validated in fun times as well as tragic times in my term. These kinds of connections
do not end just because some of us will graduate or move on to greater endeavors. I am looking forward
to being a part of each of your journeys as well as you are a part of my life purpose. Of all the memories of
this year, the ones that I shared with my FBLA family at Mays High School are the ones I hold most dear.
Even though there is a lot of footwork that needs to be done in making sure great business leaders
and entrepreneurs are being groomed through the fundamentals of FBLA to more middle and high school,
I am glad to say I used this term as a state officer to get started.
The unforeseen natural occurrence of COVID-19 and the effects of its devastation have affected a lot of
our PBL members mentally and physically. Whether you were affected by this virus or lost family members
who were affected, I truly extend my prayers of healing to each and everyone of you. Despite these
difficult times, Phi Beta Lambda will rise, step up to the challenges, and become victorious in continuing to
open more chapters, sponsor more middle and high schools, increase memberships and grow our
Professional Division. Whether in the past, present, or future, Phi Beta Lambda will continue to be a World
of Opportunities.

Spring 2020 8
Greeting PBL!
As I am reflecting on my term of office that is quickly ending, I
would like to let you know a little bit more about me. I returned
to college after having to make a few major decisions with my
job. I decided to go back to school and to obtain a degree to
make myself more marketable in the job force. I am a non-
traditional student who had no aspirations to become active in
any organization not directly required for my degree. So, I owe
so much to my advisor, Mona Williams, who pushed me out of
my comfort zone encouraging me to join Phi Beta Lambda.
Little did I know, PBL was exactly what I needed. With PBL I have learned leadership skills, gained
confidence in public speaking and learned the importance of teamwork. Through the competitions,
conferences, and my responsibilities as a State Officer, I have not only made life-long friends, but gained
confidence in my abilities to lead.
As my term as Vice President of National Projects comes to an end, I will take all I have learned with me
into the next chapter of my life, and I will explore the World of Opportunities that are waiting for me after
graduation. I want to say Thank You to all of you for electing me to be a State Officer and I want to
encourage you to think about running for State Office as well!
I hope to see all of you at National Conference (virtually, of course), and don’t be surprised if I turn up as
one of your judges soon. Thank you again for making this year so unforgettable. I wish you all success in
the year ahead.

Susie Berry, VP of Membership
Dear fellow PBL members, Advisors, and my fellow State Officers,
Ohana means family. Nobody gets left behind or forgotten -Lilo&Stich
Last year in April, you voted me as your 2019-2020 state officer. Boy,
what a term this has been! From helping to pick out this year’s theme
to seeing you all at the Fall and District Leadership Conferences, it has
been an honor to be able to serve as your state Vice President of
Membership. I’m proud of you all who competed in the Virtual State
Leadership Conference, despite the challenges this spring. Even though it was not the same as when we
are face-to-face, we still had a chance to connect over the Internet while expanding our World of
Opportunities through this trying time. Remember: Even though we are apart, we each have PBL in our
hearts.
To my fellow state officers: Even though we didn’t get to be at this year’s state leadership conference we
still rocked at Georgia Fall Leadership Conference and District. I will forever remember the fun time we
had at officer training playing putt-putt, putting together the program of work skit, and having fun at the
lake. I truly enjoyed serving with each of you. I’m going to miss you all.
To my advisors Mr. Green and Mrs. Mona: Thank you for supporting and helping me get to the
conferences, making sure I had my uniform, and completing all three levels of CMAP.
Finally, to the upcoming state officers: You will do great this upcoming year. Take time to absorb
everything you experience. Take pictures with the members and friends. Help each other. Write all your
experience as a state officer in a journal. The year will go by in the blink of an eye.

Spring 2020 10
It starts with an innate sense of giving, caring, and simply wanting to serve. By
the time we reach adulthood, it matures into full blown leadership. But, not just
any kind of leadership. We are describing the unique professional leadership
that is paramount and daily cultivated amongst the membership of PHI BETA
LAMBDA. I write those Greek words and say them with genuine pride. I am
proud to be counted with you. Thank you for this great opportunity.
It all started with my state officer campaign slogan ” Spring with Greene”. I
wanted to reach into each and every member’s heart and instill the inspiration and confidence I have in what
Georgia PBL is all about. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great body of existing members who were just as
adamant and excited about PBL as I am. How many of you can remember my campaign slogan song..Yes! “ Happy”
by Pharell. I can still see Mona, Kim, and even Donna Lawrence dancing a bit in the halls at the Westin. Those are
the images I will carry with me a lifetime. The first dance at the SLC was also a huge success. Now, that was an epic
night!
This past year has had its cost as well. Who could have foreseen COVID-19!? Social distancing goes against the core
of our business ethics. We shake hands and formally introduce ourselves. Its Business 101 Right? This year we have
been presented with A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY. Let us Create new ways of communicating, Leading the industry
in our specialized Technical fields, and Inspire courage and Integrity in the process. That is what PBL is!
I ran for state office last year with the goal to increase PBL’s social media digital footprint. WOW!!! We just con-
vened our first Virtual State Leadership Conference 2020. Now, that is something to be very proud of! I leave one
lasting legacy with you that I hope future State Officers will develop and take to an even greater level. I want all
members of Georgia PBL to connect more on social media. Our Facebook groups, as we have come to discover, are
a great way to connect! We can do this.
None of our accomplishments as a State Officer Team would be possible without the constant and capable guidance
of Georgia PBL Executive Committee. Their commitment and coaching is real and authentic. I would like to thank my
fellow officers— You all have done such an incredible job! I am very appreciative for humbleness and leadership.
Believe me, I learned something from each of you. It has been my honor to have served with you. As the sun sets on
my tenure as your State President, I am so Happy! It has been a blast! I expect to find my way back onto the state
stage. It’s my Goal!
