Breaking Bread News from Emmaus House of Harlem Thank you for your continued support of Emmaus House of Harlem. Whether you have been around for years, or are new to our ever growing circle of friends and supporters, we welcome you. Established in 1968 by the late Fr. David Kirk, the work of Emmaus House continues as we continue to serve some of the most vulnerable and needy in our community. With no paid staff the work of Emmaus continues at the work of our hands, your hands and ours. The financial support which we receive from friends just like you makes up over 85% of our annual budget, and no amount is insignificant or too little. It all adds up, and all of it makes sure that the increasing number of people who come to our door are fed, clothed, and given the resources they need to lead more sustainable lives in this global community. I know that many of you gave through the holidays, and for that we are thankful. Please take a moment to take a look at the reverse side of this letter to see a list of the work which your contribution made possible. A note from Julia However, please know that our responsibility to the community we serve continues year round. So, before the adventure of the summer months kicks in I would invite you to remember Emmaus. Even if you can’t be with us at the House, carry us with you in your thoughts and prayers. I would also challenge you to consider, according to your financial ability, to match the contribution which you made through the holidays. What was it $20, $50, $100, $200, $500, $1,000? Did you miss it, or did it feel great to be a part of this tremendous legacy and ministry? Given what we have been able to do with your contribution in the past twelve months, just think of what we can do together in the weeks and months ahead. Again, thank you.
