Snow Removal
Winter Weather Guidelines
As winter weather comes to end, here are the 2018 snow removal guidelines.
Single Family Homes All streets are maintained and plowed by Frederick County including Spring Ridge Parkway and
Ridgefield Drive. All sidewalks in the single family neighborhoods are to be shoveled by the home-
owner.
Regarding the narrow streets such as Fleetwood, Kingston, Fairbanks, Bridgewater Ct W. and Oakley
— parking off the street will be very helpful for the plow trucks.
Town Homes and Condos In a snow/sleet storm, if accumulation is less than 2", the contractor is to apply chemicals to the com-
mon sidewalks and roads. If total snow/sleet accumulation is 2-4", the contractor is to begin plowing
only after 2" has actually accumulated on the roadways. Chemical application will begin with the park-
ing areas and private roads, followed by common sidewalks. In a big snowstorm, the contractor will
plow to open up the private roads. However, most of the detailed snow removal work will not take
place until after the snow has finished falling. The asphalt walking path will be shoveled to the
school. However at the corner of Ridgefield Drive, only one side of the street will be shoveled to the
school. The side that seems better to shovel is the Visitor Center side since the school itself doesn’t
shovel their own path on Ridgefield Drive. There are safe cross-overs in front of the school.
(Management will remain flexible on these issues as the needs change in the community.)
Town Homes One or two parking spots in the overflow lots should be used for snow piles. CONTRACTORS ARE
NOT TO CLEAR OUT INDIVIDUAL PARKING SPOTS FOR RESIDENTS WHO MOVE THEIR
VEHICLES FOR SUCH SERVICE. If multiple spots are empty at the time the plows are there, the
contractor may clear them. Please don’t shovel snow from around your vehicle and throw it back into
the street or on the sidewalk. The snow should be placed in your yard, out of the way, not in the street
and not on the sidewalks. If snow accumulation is over 4", the same treatment will be applied as de-
scribed above, and careful attention will be kept to the location of snow piles. Areas to be specifically
avoided are mailboxes, fire hydrants, and bus stops. Once accumulation reaches 4" or more, walking
paths are to be cleared (one snow blower path) near the end of the storm. As always, residents should
use caution at all times. The contractor can’t be everywhere for every weather event. Please remember

Safety Tip
For your safety, please remember to wear bright colors or white when walking at night. This significantly helps drivers to see you when you are walking.
Single Family/Townhouse: Trash, Recycling &
Storage of Trash Trash disposal and storage of trash cans has become a problem in Spring Ridge. We want to remind residents
of the rules and procedures to dispose of trash and to store trash cans in the community.
The rule states: “ARTICLE IX, Section 9.02 (e): "Trash and garbage containers shall not be permitted to re-
main in public view except on days of trash collection and after 6pm on days prior to trash collection. Trash
shall be stored in closed metal containers or containers constructed of other suitable materials. No incin-
erator shall be kept or maintained on any Lot.”
We ask residents that when disposing of household trash to put the trash bags inside a trash container
before putting the trash out for collection at the curbside. Individual trash bags should not
be put out on the curbside. Animals will get into the trash bags and spread trash all over the
community making the community look very unkempt.
The same applies to your recycling— during recycle collection days make sure the recycling
is secured inside the recycle container so not to blow all over the community.
Trash cans (recycle cans included) should only be put out on the street for collection at 6
pm on days prior to collection. All trash containers should be put away from “public view”
no later than the end of the trash collection day. When not in use trash cans should be
kept in the garage, backyard or screened from public view. These rules apply to regular
With the exception of holidays and inclement weather, here is the Single Family/Townhouse
trash collection schedule:
·Household Trash—Monday & Thursday
·Yard Waste—Yard Waste will resume again on March 21, 2018 and will continue every
Wednesday until January 9, 2019.
·Recycling—(glass, paper, plastic, etc.) is not a service offered by Spring Ridge. It is fully serviced by Frederick County. Frederick County Recycling can be contacted at 301-600-2960 or by emailing [email protected]

Don't Throw Away Those Box Tops
Did you know that the Spring Ridge Visitor's Center is a
collection point for the Box Tops for Education program?
Last year, two Cadette Girl Scouts who live in Spring
Ridge worked with the community managers and board of
directors to get approval to place a collection box at the
Visitor's Center and to advertise the program as part of a
sustainable project to earn their Silver Award. Contribu-
tions are donated to the middle school that serves Spring
Ridge Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School. You
can read more about this project in the April 2017 and Oc-
tober 2016 Spring Ridge newsletters available at
www.springridgeonline.com. If you already collect box
tops for our two local elementary schools (Spring Ridge
and Oakdale) please continue to do so. But if you have
been throwing box tops away, this information is for you!
You can drop off Box Tops for Education at the Visitor's
Center 24/7. During business hours, please stop in and
drop them in the collection box. But when the Visitor's
Center is closed you can use the mail slot. We request
that you put the box tops in a zip lock bag. More informa-
tion about the Box Tops for Education program can be

Pet Waste Picking up your pet(s) waste is not only law, but is a rule of the community association and
shows common courtesy. Please be mindful and pick up after your pet(s).
Please be aware that all animals must be on a leash, and accompanied by their owners at all
times. This applies to dogs and cats. Not only is this the policy of Spring Ridge, but it is also a
Frederick County law. Owners of unleashed/unattended animals face fines by not only the
County, but also by Spring Ridge. In addition to this, Animal Control can and will be called to re-
move unleashed/unattended animals if this problem persists. Please be courteous to your neighbors as well as your
pets.
