SELLADOOR PRODUCTIONS IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE MARLOWE PRESENT

Of Mice And MenA brand new production of the most iconic and powerful story in American literature.Set in the trying times of the Great Depression,  Of Mice And Men is a compelling portrait of the American spirit and a heartbreaking testament to the bonds of friendship and what it means to be human.

This landmark play, by the Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck, tells the story of George and Lennie, two migrant ranch workers who dream of owning their own ranch.

Still painfully relevant to today, this is a moving story about trying to hold on to your dreams and friendships during dicult times.

From the producers of Avenue Q, The Crucible, American Idiot and Flashdance comes this American classic for all time.

THE MARLOWE, CANTERBURY HIGH SCHOOL AND THE ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY’S ASSOCIATE SCHOOLS PROGRAMME PRESENT

Julius Caesar: The Ides Of MarchLet slip the dogs of war.As the people of Rome celebrate their returning hero Julius Caesar, some fear what this all-powerful figure might do next. Is this man a visionary or a tyrant? Is Brutus a man for the people or part of the political elite? Whilst storms rage, conspirators plot and friends turn to enemies as the Republic is brought to its knees.

Young people from 11 schools across Kent come together to bring to life Shakespeare’s iconic tale of political intrigue and conspiracy.

Julius Caesar is a fantastic celebration of the achievements of young people involved in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Associate Schools Programme, a long term programme where schools work with artists and practitioners from the RSC and The Marlowe.

This is a production made with our Associate Schools.

Mozart: The Marriage Of Figaro & Puccini: Il tabarro/Gianni SchicchiAn energetic new production of Mozart’s beloved opera, and a stunning Puccini double bill.Mozart’s classic comedy, The Marriage Of Figaro, is one of the world’s most beloved operas. Blanche McIntyre (Tosca, 2017) returns to direct this most warm-hearted of operas. Sung in English.

Puccini’s one-act operas Il tabarro and Gianni Schicchi could hardly be more dierent: one is a moody romance ending in a grotesque murder on a barge in Paris, and the other is a sparkling comedy about a family inheritance in Florence. This double bill shows Puccini at his finest as a master of the theatre that speaks to the heart. Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

A NEW ADVENTURES PRODUCTION

Matthew Bourne’s CinderellaMusic by Prokofiev

A thrilling and evocative love story. Following the success of The Red Shoes, New Adventures return to our theatre with one of their most beloved productions. Matthew Bourne’s interpretation of the classic fairytale has, at its heart, a true war-time romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the Blitz.

Cinderella takes you into the heart of Prokofiev’s magnificent score, with surround sound by Paul Groothuis, a specially commissioned recording of a 60-piece orchestra, Lez Brotherston’s Olivier Award-winning designs and lighting by Olivier Award-winning Neil Austin.

DAVID PUGH & DAFYDD ROGERS PRESENT THE OLD VIC PRODUCTION OF ART WRITTEN BY YASMINA REZA, TRANSLATED BY CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON

ArtA comedy masterpiece starring Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson & Stephen Tompkinson

One of the most successful comedies ever. Art is a phenomenon and one of the most successful plays ever. Having opened in 1996, it took both the West End and Broadway by storm, won Olivier, Tony, Moliere and every other major theatre award, and has been packing in audiences worldwide for more than 20 years.

When Serge spends an extortionate amount of money on an all white modernist painting, his close friends Marc and Yvan are ba´ed. But does their violent reactions to this provocative canvas mirror more dangerous antagonisms towards each other? Yasmina Reza’s dazzling study of friendship, prejudice and tolerance is a masterpiece.
