Budding Inspiration

They say that style is the art of walking on earth in paradise and for this spring / summer catalogue we were inspired by a paradisiacal abundance of art forms, in the form of the Schönbrunn Palm House. From the elegance and lightness of its quintessentially classical architecture, to the harmony of three gifted musicians who came together there for a lively get-together and the high art of gardening, demonstrated by one of the most magnificent botanical collections in Europe housed inside the exquisite building. Because we believe that true beauty is only created through the interaction of inspira-tions. This is why, for example, plants thrive when listening to classical music … and musicians at the sight of beautiful shoes.

The ExplorerWith his “Well-Tempered Piano”, Johann Sebastian Bach explored the perfected counterpoint. Star clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer continues this tradition in a time-less and admirable way – with a well-tempered manner even in a tropical ambience.

You can think of life as a jungle, or also as a fascinating journey that leads to the discovery of one’s own style. Therefore Andreas Ottensamer, together with the best philharmonic orchestras in the world, explores the art of the well-tempered tones. In the choice of his shoes, well-temperedness also plays an important role. For example, the Meraner – a summer classic with airy perforated leather and a similar cool elegance, just like the architecture of the Palm House.

A symphony is similar to botany in that it takes the love of a gardener or performer to make them blossom in all their glory. The multi-talented Béla Korény could therefore be called a gifted gardener of sounds, as a pianist and composer, director, enter-tainer, orchestra leader, actor and former owner of the Broadway Piano Bar. He cultivates his extensive shoe collection with a similar passion, by the way. And why would a classic by Ludwig Reiter not be on par with a classic by Tchaikovsky?

There are many good reasons why some people eat vegan food – but that doesn’t mean you have to give up leather shoes. Real leather is a product made from animal skins, but no animal – apart from exotic animals such as crocodiles and minks – is bred or slaughtered for leather production. Leather is a waste product of the meat and dairy industry. Without leather production, the animal skins produced would only be disposed of uselessly, and even if everyone stops consuming meat and milk, animals – hopefully – will always exist in this world.

However, leather has ancient tried and tested properties that synthetic materials still cannot match. If nature offers us such treasures, it would be a sacrilege not to process them into something of high quality, usefulness and natural beauty. If you want to show a global sense of responsibility, you should do that by using things that last a long time and with high es-teem – for which you will find some very good examples in this brochure.
