2017 Gala for Life LIFE. WORTH DEFENDING.
We are pleased to again welcome as our Guest of Honor
The Most Reverend Felipe Estevez,
Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine
Women’s Help Center is pleased to introduce Dinesh D’Souza, conservative author, filmmaker, political analyst, and Fox News contributor as our 2017 Gala for Life keynote speaker. Mr. D’Souza is a renowned writer and director, known for Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, America: Imagine the World Without Her, and 2016: Obama's America.
Believing that abortion has become the ultimate litmus test in the political world of the left, as well as the number-one issue determining the merits of a political candidate, Mr.
D’Souza asserts that “…in the church of modern liberalism, abortion has become a sacrament.”
In his book, Letters to a Young Conservative, Mr. D’Souza addresses abortion in a letter titled “Speaking as a Former Fetus.” In this commentary, he explains the liberal mindset that “abortion-on-demand is the debris of the sexual revolu-tion.” Many of Mr. D’Souza’s publications have landed on the New York Times Bestseller’s List, notably What’s So Great About America. D’Souza also champions Christian beliefs and values. His books, What’s So Great About Christi-anity; Life After Death: The Evidence; and Godforsaken delve into the core Christian beliefs upon which Western civili-zation was built. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an inspiring evening!

New Banners Help Promote
Women’s Help Center Ministry
An anonymous donor recently helped fulfill an item on our wish list! Instead of ex-
changing gifts this past Christmas, a donor and her children donated to the Wom-
en’s Help Center the money they would have spent on gifts. With that money, we
were able to purchase two beautiful banners that promote our many services. This
gift was made in honor and loving memory of the donor’s parents, John and Marga-
ret Karnes. The banners will be used at seminars and events throughout Northeast
Florida. Pictured here is the banner that was created to reach at-risk women. Be
sure to look for our Donor banner at our vendor table during the upcoming Eucha-
ristic Congress.

The KnIghts of Columbus Bishop Hurley Coun-
cil #11069 raised over $10,000 for WHC dur-
ing their recent poker tournament fundraiser!
In recognition of his tireless dedication to
making this event a success year after year,
Hassan Cruz, Project Chairman of the event
for the Knights, was recognized as the Wom-
en’s Help Center 2016 Guardian Angel for
Life. Pictured here are Hassan; Jim Radloff,
Immediate Past President of the WHC Board
of Directors; Nestor Bautista, Grand Knight;
and Tom Doyle, long-time WHC board mem-
ber and Council Trustee. Thank you, Hassan,
and Council #11069 for your dedicated sup-
port of our ministry!
Just before Christmas a client stopped by to say hello and introduce us to her son. We had not seen her in quite a while; the little boy she introduced to us was now almost two years old! How different this visit was from her first visit to Women’s Help Center: when she first came to us she was pregnant, alone, and her boy-friend was pressuring her to abort her baby.
We were blessed to be here for her and help her through that very difficult time in her life. And we were, of course, delight-ed to see her again and meet her son. Her words to us that day touched us to our core. She told us, “This is my son, and he is also your son. You are the rea-son he is here. Thank you.”
The client, who was eight months preg-nant with her second child, then shared with us that her baby girl was due on Christmas Day. The woman, who is Mus-lim, told us that her baby daughter was to be a Christmas baby for us, because we had shown her the amazing gift of ac-
cepting God’s plan for her life. That little girl was indeed born on Christmas Day, and our client is happier than she ever thought possible. Women’s Help Center is able to help women facing unplanned pregnancies each and every day because of your continued support of our minis-try. Thank you!
We are thrilled to welcome Patti Sloan as our new Board President. Many of you know Patti from her years of dedication to our ministry, serving most recently as Executive Director from 2012 through 2015. Welcome back, Patti! Finally, I would like to share with you this beautiful prayer to end abortion:
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion. Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abor-tion. Today I commit myself
~Never to be silent,
~Never to be passive,
~Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life, until all my brothers and sisters are protected. And our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all.*
I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming Gala for Life, where we will not only celebrate life, but reaffirm our dedication to protecting the most vulner-able among us!
God bless,
Nancy Basham, Executive Director
