My memoir is dedicated to my whole, my mom for encouraging me, my dad for giving

me confidence, my older brother Justin, for fixing the tiny mistakes, and my little brother for

being there.

Every Friday Mr. Leakman has a party at his house. The parties were always loud and -

joyful. After a couple of weeks of it my curiosity got the best of me.

The school bells rang the end of school. Everybody was talking about what they were

going to do on the weekend. My friend was going to the movies to see Batman.

“I’m going to see the new batman, I’m so excited!!!” Leo said.

A couple of students were even singing Friday by Rebecca Black while Ms. Moss put it

on full sound upstairs. I wanted to tell my friends so bad what I was going to do but I resisted the

temptation because if I told them they would start a rumor and I couldn’t risk getting in trouble.

On the bus home I kept relaying through my head what I was going to do. First I would

prepare myself, get my camera to zoom in then get the walkie talkie and glue the button so it

was always transmitting. My brothers and I decided they would place the walkie talkie under the

fence so I didn’t need to worry about that. The bus was slowing down passing Mr. Leakman’s

house then arriving at mine. I was filled with excitement and fear. I couldn’t think straight.

“Justin, Thomas, you guys get the walkie talkies while i get the camera,” I commanded

as we got off the bus and in our house. “Got it,” they answered simultaneously.

I grabbed my camera while my brothers glued the walkie talkie then brought it outside

and slipped it under the fence separating Mr. Leakman’s house from mine. After everything was

set in place we went to the balcony of my room for the best view. The only thing we could do

now was wait and hope nothing bad would happen.

At last we saw the first car, it was Ms Moss. After that came a flow of cars. When

everybody had arrived Mr. Leakman set up a bonfire in his backyard and passed out wine and

food. After the meal and snacks the stories started.

They started telling stories about kids doing annoying things like talking while when the

teachers were speaking but then they also told stories about students who they found funny.

One of the teachers dared Ms. Moss to sing her national anthem which was O’Canada. We

laughed so much One of the stories was so funny that we accidently pressed a button which

made our laughter transmit to the other walkie talkie.

The teachers disrupted by our loud laughter looked up to see us three zooming in on

them with cameras. We were frantic. We quickly packed our stuff and pretended we were

asleep (the only thing we could think of). After a couple of minutes we heard a knock at the

door. What sounded like Mr.Yuen spoke to my parents to ask if we spied on them but my

parents said we were asleep.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you at such a late hour, but I was wondering if your children are

spying on us?” Mr. Luen asked.

“How could they be spying on you, their sound asleep!” My mom whispered, outraged as

she was kicking Mr. Luen out the door (thanks mom) and closing the door with a bang!!

We all dreaded going back to school after the weekend. They probably figured that we

were awake and laughing.

Since that day every Friday when Mr. Leakman has a party, I shut the blinds, put my

headphones on and listen to music.
