Objectives
Aim of the Conference This nursing conference aims to bring individuals together who
have an interest in different fields of nursing and explore the advances in
nursing practice, reformations in nursing curricula, developments to create
caring leadership and existing realities in nursing research.
Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute was
established by Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust in the year
1985 as a private not-for-profit self-financing institution and dedicated to
serve the society as a centre of excellence with emphasis on medical
education, research and healthcare. The Trust achieved the task of
establishing this Institution as a "Centre of Excellence" under the
leadership of Late Shri. N. P. V. Ramasamy Udayar who was the Founder and
Managing Trustee of the Trust and also the first Chancellor of the Deemed
University. Shri. V. R. Venkataachalam is currently the Chancellor of the
University and is also the Managing Trustee of the Trust. Over two decades, Sri Ramachandra University has transformed
into a full fledged University with nine constituent colleges/faculties and
have around 100 courses in the health care sciences. The refreshingly green
University campus is spread over 150 acres and houses more than 4000
students with all teaching and training facilities under one roof. The multi
specialty tertiary care hospital with 2280 beds and with largest ICU
facilities provides comprehensive healthcare. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has
accredited (Cycle-2) Sri Ramachandra University with "A" Grade with a
CGPA of 3.62 on a 4-point scale, the highest to be awarded to a private
medical University in India. The Joint Commission International (JCI) has
accredited the University teaching hospital, the first teaching hospital in
India to obtain such accreditation from JCI. Faculty of Nursing is located in an exclusive four level building
with the entire infrastructure required to learn the full spectrum of nursing
care. The college offers B. Sc. Nursing (Basic), B. Sc. Nursing (Post Basic),
M. Sc. Nursing and Ph.D in Nursing courses. Academic collaboration with
the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, USA, University of Washington,
Seattle, USA and University of Sydney, Australia is our strength. Nursing makes a significant contribution to the health
maintenance, health promotion and well-being of individuals, local
communities and populations. The healthcare environment is rapidly
changing, and the forces of healthcare reform may create even more
change. Today's nurses require an expanded skill set that includes
knowledge of science and medical technology to function and manage in a
highly complex patient-care environment. As a critical component of the
healthcare workforce, nursing profession must keep pace with changes in
the healthcare environment to ensure the continued delivery of high
quality, safe and effective patient care. Worldwide, there is a dramatic shortage of nurses. An increase
in the migration of nurses from their home countries to recipient countries
is having a global effect on the healthcare system. This turnover has an
impact on the performance and profitability of healthcare organizations.
Effective management practices are necessary to tackle the issue of nursing
migration and turnover.
Nursing education is experiencing many changes. From the
traditional classroom to web-based clinical instruction, the transition
continues. Accompanying this transition are the challenges that nurse
educators must identify and remedy. Nursing educational processes
continue to experience revision, modification, refinement, and
innovation in response to changes that occur in the broader educational
environment as well as in the healthcare delivery system. Nurses conduct research, use research in practice, and teach
about research. Leadership and innovation are keys to deliver and
implement research based evidences to provide quality nursing care.
Nurses need motivation to innovate and disseminate them. These
innovative practices improve patient experiences, health outcomes and
nursing practice. Dissemination of research findings is paramount to
build nursing body of knowledge. Perfect blend of nursing education, service and research will
help the nurses to promote the quality of nursing care and to update
their knowledge and skills with practice innovations in any health care
agency
