Due to the fact you have not been timetabled for your GCSE options yet, please use the below schedule as guidance for your
weekly studies. You will then need to refer to the subject table for the set of instructions that have been given to you by your
teacher. If you have any queries regarding this information, please see the contact information above.
Subject
**Subject Details**
GCSE CORE SUBJECTS English Reading: Spend an hour reading this week. You can continue with your reading of Oliver Twist, or with any book you have chosen from home.
Free audio books are available to download on Amazon Audible if you have run out of books to read - email your English teacher for some suggestions if you need to. Response to reading: Choose a scene from your novel and draw it in detail. You should aim to use quotations from the scene/text. If you struggle with drawing, you can use images that already exist but they must be annotated too (this is the only work that you need to send to your teacher this week). Speaking Assessment – We thought that we would have to wait until we returned to school for recording your presentations due to IT issues, but these have been resolved and your work next week (week beginning 13th July) will be to record your presentation and upload it. Instructions next week will make this clear. This week: using your draft and the PowerPoint/visual aids you created last term, you need to practise and rehearse your presentation ready for filming next week. Ask a parent/guardian/sibling to sit and watch your presentation and have them ask you a question or two at the end of your presentation (you must show that you are able to respond to questioning from an audience).
Day Core GCSE Option Monday English Option 1
Tuesday Maths Option 2
Wednesday Science Option 3
Thursday English Option 4 Friday Maths and Science

Advice: You should be able to show the PowerPoint or visual aids alongside your speech and it should take about 4 to 5 minutes in total to present. Your PowerPoint or visual presentation can include graphs, images, short videos/interviews (no more than 30 seconds of video in total) etc. You may wish to stand next to the computer as your screen when you practise your speech. Please remember to email your annotated scene drawing to your class teacher.
Maths
Before next week you will receive an email from your class teacher providing personalised analysis from the feedback tasks if completed. Also attached to the email will be instructions explaining how you can access the new interactive questions for each of your own improvement topics on MathsWatch. This means for the next two weeks you will answer personalised questions instead of doing a generic task. Please work through your list of improvement topics from your Mathswatch feedback. Answers will be automatically marked as before. Please watch the video and attempt the interactive questions related to each video. You should aim to complete one video, plus the supporting set of interactive questions, for each lesson of Mathematics on your timetable. If you require support please email your class teacher as before. Challenge tasks will be set if you require them. If you did not attempt the feedback tasks by the deadline, you will find that we have now re opened these tasks. Please complete these assessments so that we can feedback to you. Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact myself on [email protected] or Miss Wells on [email protected].
Science
To access your Science work for Weeks 13 and 14, please go to FROG>Science Subject Site>Year 9>Home Learning. Here, you will find your Research Topic Pack. This Topic Pack will last for the final two weeks of term. If you have any questions, please contact your Science teacher or Miss Griffiths ([email protected])
