Some are concerned that the reverence for the Holy Mass is being diminished as people have distractions and multi-task during the Mass. Some are concerned with watching Mass as if it were merely a television program as we lounge around in our pajamas. Some are concerned that celebrating the Mass remotely will continue to be a substitution for attending Mass, thus diminishing the value of a community gathering and the actual reception of Holy Communion. On the other hand, many of the home bound and parishioners who moved away now feel a great connection to their parish community. In addition, two-thirds of our parishioners were not attending Mass on a regular basis before the Coronavirus. Many are now connected online and may build up the momentum, appreciation, discipline, and courage to get involved in their community of Faith again. Some, though few, are finding the online venue as their first introduction to Church. My opinion is that we will probably notice a change in our attendance. Some have become accustomed to foregoing their Sunday Obligation to attend Mass. Some will feel they did not miss receiving Holy Communion. Others will become more interested in community events, Bible studies, and adoration of the Eucharist. I am especially concerned about the youth, who already struggled to attend, but now do not typically use the online options. Some of the smaller parishes may financially fail at this time, leaving even less of a Catholic presence in neighborhoods that really must come to know Christ all the more. Dear Parishioners, On a national level, there has been some discussion of the long-term affects of streaming the Mass on the internet. My advice is that each family continue to treat Sunday as a Holy Day through ritual and family prayer, even online Masses. Recommit ourselves to the discipline of prayer according to the Traditions our forefathers sacrificed to give us. May this not be the generation that forgets all that God has done for us. I will continue to stream the Mass until the Sunday Obligation is restored. Afterward, I will broadcast one homebound/evangelization Mass a week on Sunday afternoons. Keep up the good example and know that I have never stopped praying for you, as is my duty. Please pray for each other as we struggle to stay connected as a community of believers.

Natural Family Planning Classes

Natural Family Planning classes will be held at Holy Family, Stow beginning July 7, 2020 at

7pm. Classes give all the resources necessary to easily, simply, and successfully practice NFP. The

classes are great for both married and engaged couples seeking to bring their relationship in accord with the Church's divine teaching, as well as those

seeking to lead a more natural, healthy lifestyle. NFP is perfect for all couples including

those having problems getting pregnant and also for those who wish to postpone pregnancy. NFP keeps alive romance, courtship, reverence and respect in your relationship. There are 4 sessions for this

class: 7/7, 7/21, 8/11, 9/1. For more information, or to register, call Leo and Toni Doty (330) 689-0632 or [email protected]

Faith Formation Registration

All families with children age 4 through high school are encouraged to register your children for Faith

Formation (PSR) as soon as possible, so that we can best plan for the next school year. We WILL have

Faith Formation in the fall – the Gospel will be proclaimed! We are hopeful that we will be able to return to the classrooms, with increased attention to

sanitization and disinfection as needed. Still, we will continue in some format. Your early

registration helps us to make the very best plans for your children.

Families who are considering homeschooling for the year must still register in the parish Faith Formation program. Homeschooling families

receive instruction and guidance from the Director of Faith Formation, and will meet throughout the

year for periodic progress checks and assessments.

Register by July 1st to waive the $50 registration fee.

For registration information, contact Joni Smith X 110.

Are you ready to come back to Prayer Shawl??

How does Monday, July 6 (10am to Noon) and Tuesday, July 7 (for the evening group-5:30 to

7:30pm) sound to everyone. We will be following social distancing with one person to a table, six feet

apart, and wearing our masks, of course and disinfecting our space before exiting.

If you feel a bit apprehensive at this time, come when you feel comfortable. Hopefully we will be able to

meet and continue to do so as time goes on.

The shawls that have been completed prior to the

quarantine, have been put in individual zip lock clear bags and will be distributed to those who request

them in that manner, and in the future so that there is minimum

handling of the shawls.

“If you ever feel distressed during your

day, call upon our Lady, and just say this simple prayer: Mary, Mother of Jesus, be a mother to me now. I must admit this

prayer has never failed me.”

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Holy Angels Church is offering two monthly support groups for anyone dealing with the grief and the issues surrounding loss of a

loved one. They will be held on the parish grounds Monday, July 6 at 6:30pm and

Saturday, July 25 at 10:00am. Bring your own lawn chair. In case of rain, the meeting will be in the Community Room, allowing for social distancing. Trained facilitators will be there to lead the conversation. For

questions, or to register, contact Sr. Susan at 440-708-0000 x202.

Marian Shrine

We will be building a shrine to Mary on the parish property this summer, and we need your help! We need rocks! Best size is

between softball and soccer ball size. Bring as many as you’d like, but our goal is to have each family/person represented by a rock in

the shrine. For those of you who live in apartments or other situations

where you do not have rocks lying around that belong to you, know that we have other options in the works for you (details soon.) Thou shall

NOT steal thy neighbors’ landscaping rocks! Anyone who is

seriously interested in helping to construct this is asked to

contact the parish office and we will notify you when the

planning meeting will be.

Entrance Antiphon

All peoples, clap your hands. Cry to God with shouts of joy!

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

SS. Cosmas and Damian—Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 28, 2020

Second Reading Romans 6:3—4, 8—11

Brothers and Sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.

If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.

The word of the Lord All reply: thanks be to God

First Reading 2 Kings 4:8—11, 14—16a

One day Elisha came to Shunem, to dine with her. Afterward, whenever he passed by, he used to stop there to dine. So she said to her husband, “I know that Elisha is a holy man of God. Since he visits us often, let us arrange a little room on the roof and furnish it for him with a bed, table, chair, and lamp, so that when he comes to us he can stay there.” Sometime later Elisha arrived and stayed in the room overnight.

Later Elisha asked, “Can something be done for her?” His servant Gehazi answered, “Yes! She has no son, and her husband is getting on in years.” Elisha said, “Call her.” When the woman had been called and stood at the door, Elisha promised, “This time next year you will be fondling a baby son.”

The word of the Lord All Reply: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm

Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

The promises of the Lord I will sing forever, Through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”; In heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness.

Blessed the people who know the joyful shout; In the light of your countenance, O Lord, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day, And through your justice they are exalted.

You are the splendor of their strength, And by your favor our horn is exalted. For to the Lord belongs our shield, And the Holy One of Israel, our king.

Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

“Always go forward and never turn back.”

Gospel Matthew 10:37—42

Jesus said to his apostles: “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.”

The Gospel of the Lord All Reply: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

The Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

At the words that follow, up to and including, ‘and became man’, all bow. And by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen
