Day 1 (Monday) How and why are we influenced by others? Psychology behind Social Influence
Time 10:00 - 12:00
Instructor Dr. Sabina Čehajić-Clancy
Politics and political processes by definition include human agency. Understanding human behavior is thus an inevitable requirement for understanding and studying politics. In this interactive lecture we will discuss and analyze processes and conditions of conformity and social influence. Why do we follow orders issued by an authority? Why are social norms and expectations molding our behaviour? Are all we equally influenced by others and are some people more resistant to such processes? How are those people and why are they important for social change? These are some of the questions that we will talk about.
Day 2 (Tuesday) The Rise of Extreme Right in Europe and Democratic Regression: Has Democracy Failed?
Time 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor Mr. Adnan Huskić
Ideas of extreme right in Europe have long been considered the main trigger of World War II. Largely considered obsolete and eradicated in the post-WW2 world, their fairly sudden return to political scene in Europe startled many observers. In addition to the rise of extreme right, another visible trend is the radicalization of mainstream politics and general democratic regression all over Europe. What accounts for these changes, have they already reached their climax and what future holds in store for us and for Europe? Are we witnessing first-hand the reversal of the third wave of democracy

Day 3 (Wednesday) Analyzing and Designing Public Policies
Time 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor Dr. Maja Savić-Bojanić
Designed to introduce the complex world of public policy to a very young audience, this crash course is designed to acquaint the participants with the main concepts and issues in the study of public policy and the fundamentals of policy analysis. The 2 hour session will offer an extensive practical focus, which will enable students to understand the public policy cycle, from problem definition and agenda setting to policy implementation and monitoring and finally evaluation. The course is designed in such a way as to allow for students’ critical reflection on the contemporary public policy development by advancing their analytical, drafting and communication skills.
Day 4 (Thursday) How well do you know your politics?
Time 10:00 - 12:00
Instructor Dr. Dennis Gratz
This lecture is all about your political rights and duties, with practical examples and, hopefully, exciting discussions. In modern-day democratic cultures, politics has become a word with negative connotations; but is it really so? Are we really aware of how power works? What form it takes, how it is wielded and by whom, and why it is distributed the way it is? We will try to answer these questions together, through a brief survey of the most important aspects of modern day state functioning and governmental authority dynamics. The focus is on the citizen, his or her civic power, and why all it sometimes takes is the knowledge of how to make a responsible political choice.

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
VENUE: P 12, ground floor*
* Registration of participants is on Monday, 15 January, from 9:15 in the SSST lobby.

Time 10:00 – 12:00

Day 2 (Tuesday) From Indo-Germanic to German and English – the Development of Germanic Languages
Time 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor Džana Zahirović, cPhD
Despite the fact that Britain and Germany have been on opposing sides at different times in their political history, either side cannot deny that the two languages are very similar. Did you know that English is a Germanic language? Statistically, English and German have a 60% similarity – and most similarities are in the words we use every day, such as hand, foot, house, drink, and winter. This lecture will explore the historical development and connection between English and German through the development of vocabulary, grammar and meaning, and we will explain when they began to shift from one another. In particular, we will also study “false friends” – the words that sound and look the same in English and German, but have different meanings. Art in German means “way or method”, and a Box is actually a loudspeaker? Find out more in this lecture.
11
Day 3 (Wednesday) Critical Thinking and Rhetorical Analysis
Time 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor Anida Hadžić, MA F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote that “the test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function.” This presentation will examine this quote more closely in an attempt to understand what it means to critically examine ides from multiple perspectives before deciding whether to accept or reject them. We will analyse a number of different texts—political speeches, poems, advertisements, magazine covers—in order to explore how they work to persuade, entertain or educate us. We will consider the role context plays in generating meaning in order to access these texts’ underlying messages. Why do some texts convince us to do something and others don’t? Why are we still reading poetry written hundreds of years ago, and how do we understand it differently today? How do images work to move us?
Day 4 (Thursday) DAAD Scholarship Programmes
Time 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor Tanja Sanden
Presentation about the scholarship programme offered by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange
Service) for students in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and information about higher education in Germany.

knowledge of the German language in general as well as special language courses (duration of the course
3-4 weeks), will be specially introduced. Further questions are answered in the presentation: -Where do
I get more information on admission requirements to study at a German university? -Do I need a language
certificate? -Where do I apply? -How do I finance my studies? The presentation is held by Tanja Sanden,
Head of DAAD Office, BiH."

students who have an interest in the art of filmmaking, whether they have had previous experience in
making films or are new to filmmaking. Our goal is to introduce the students with the process of
filmmaking, through series of practical exercises tailored to go through the entire process, from the idea
to its realization.
The key aim is to have students not only to consume film as the media, but to learn how to tell their
stories through film, using the equipment and software in a supportive and collaborative environment of
SFA.
Day 1 (Monday) Film directing Time: 10:00 – 12:00
Instructor: Prof. Nenad Dizdarević, Dean of SFA

Scriptwriting session, we ask the question: Why do I have to write a script? We will examine some of the
basic attributes of storytelling and how to turn it into a script which is a foundation for any film. Getting
from the idea to the concept, what is the meaning of scriptwriting and what is its purpose – are all among
the topics to be examined within the Session.

you make a film with a smartphone or you actually need a professional camera? Is the camera all you
need? How do you actually use a professional film camera when you have it? If not all, at least some of
these questions will be answered through this Session, where you will learn how to use the professional
camera, which lights to use and how to set it all up for your first film scene ever.

Making a film includes more that writing and shooting your story, because being done with the shooting
means you are only a half way through.
Once you have your scene, it is time to put it into a computer and like a Jigsaw puzzle make your film in
a process called editing. Although it may seem serious and complex task, editing can also be a lot of fun.
Learn more about the equipment and software used for the editing process. Through the Editing session,
you will experience the possibilities of editing and how the scene you have shot can be edited as both
