We are excited to be celebrating Mass in our newly renovated Church. Please use the doors in front of the Church. There is still some repairs being made on the side entrances at this time. If for any reason the current directives and guidelines need to be increased by the CDC, we will update and post them to our website www.ipswichcatholics.org .

SUNDAY 9:00AM & 11:00AM

2021-2022 CORI’S HAS BEGUN…..

Now that we are able to celebrate Mass in the Church, we ask that if you plan to return to ministry you complete a CORI as soon as possible. In addition, we will have CORI forms available on the rectory porch and in the sacristy for you to take home and complete. Once complete, we need to verify your ID (driver’s license or passport) in person. Not to overload Fr. Tom at Mass, please stop by rectory office and see Joanne DiNatale to verify ID. All volunteers, includes anyone who help in service of their time and talent at Our Lady of Hope Parish, are required to complete a CORI form EACH fiscal year. In addition, you must have completed the Protecting God’s Children (PGC) Program and Archdiocesan Code of Conduct. If you have not volunteered at Our Lady of Hope this past year, please call the rectory to receive these forms and read the notice below to register for the PGC training this summer. Thank you in advance for your help in this requirement and for all you do in helping us to be a vibrant parish.

WWorld Youth Day

Lisbon – August 2023 Although the specific dates have not yet been confirmed by the Vatican, we know that the location for the next International World Youth Day Gathering is Lisbon, Portugal, and that it will be held in August of 2023. The Archdiocese of Boston is once again partnering with Dube Travel to provide a pilgrimage opportunity for groups and individuals who want to attend. The pilgrimage that Dube Travel is offering includes a visit to the Fatima shrine and sites associated with the apparition of Our Lady whose Feast Day was celebrated on May 13th. Visit the website for the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima to learn more about the apparition and the shrine itself: https://www.fatima.pt/en. To request to be added on future updates for World Youth Day Lisbon email [email protected].

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

All volunteers who minister in the Archdiocese must attend the Protecting God’s Children training and complete the Code of Conduct form. In addition, every year all current volunteers and new volunteers must complete a CORI Form. Our Lady of Hope has begun the process for CORI completion for all volunteers and forms are available at the exit of the hall. Contact the rectory office to verify your ID (driver's license or passport) once completed. There have been downsides to the Pandemic, but an upside has been online training sessions for the Protecting God’s Children (Virtus) program. Which might be more convenient to those with busy schedules. If you will be volunteering and have not yet attended a training, the Child Advocacy office is now providing ‘live’ weekly PGC trainings on Zoom through Virtus throughout the summer. Just go to the usual Virtus.org, the ‘Live Training’ tab and ‘ Pre-register for an upcoming live training session’ – and you will find the schedule for adults to complete their PGC requirement with the Archdiocese of Boston via Zoom (Braintree). You will also see other Live sessions being offered in person throughout the diocese, so if you prefer; you can attend in person at others listed too. If you register for a training, please let us know once completed and forward a copy of your completion certificate to the rectory office.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS LECTORS AND ALTAR SERVERS

Now that we are celebrating Mass in the Church, we are also preparing for the return of our Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Altar Servers. With the reduction in the restrictions due to the Pandemic and most of our community getting fully vaccinated, we would like to have those of you interested in serving contact the rectory office so we can begin the process of reinstituting a schedule for all our servers. We thank all the lectors and music ministry who faithfully served during the Pandemic to date and invite those who are also interested in returning to let us know. For Parishioners who are interested in joining this important ministries, please call and let us know, too…

40 4 “From September 26 to October 31, 2021 our community will unite with many others from coast to coast – and internationally – for a major simultaneous pro-life mobilization – the 40 Days for Life Campaign. Faithful believers are praying that these efforts will mark the beginning of the end of abortion. 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion. The mission of the campaign is to bring together the Body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a “Culture of Death’ to a “Culture of Life”, thus bringing an end to abortion. You are warmly invited to join 40 Days for Life from Sep-tember 26 to October 31, 2021 and to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life – 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You are also invited to stand and peaceful-ly pray during a 40-day vigil in the public sidewalk in front of the Cummings Center, Route 62, Beverly (Health Quarters abortion clinic is located on the premises), and also to help spread the word about this important community outreach. If you would like more information – and especially if you would like to volunteer to help, please contact: John Kwiatek at [email protected]. or call us at (508) 932-7311 Please help in saving precious lives!”

He was chosen by the eternal Father as the trustworthy guardian and protector of his greatest treasures, namely, his divine Son and Mary, Joseph’s wife," says St. Bernardine of Siena. "He carried out this vocation with complete fidelity until at last God called him, saying 'Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.'" Due to St. Joseph's leadership of the Holy Family, he has been declared the protector and patron of the universal Catholic Church. On Dec. 8, 2020, Pope Francis wrote an Apostolic letter “Patris Corde” on the 150th Anniversary of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. He asked that this year we spend time in prayer and reflection of St. Joseph. To increase our love of this great saint and ask his interces-sion to help us imitate his virtues and zeal. Take some time to read the letter as we celebrate this great Saint. YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH By Dr. Scott Hahn Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Readings: Revelation 11:19a; 12:1-6a, 10ab

Psalm 45:10-12, 16 1 Corinthians 15:20-27 Luke 1:39-56 On this feast, we praise God who has taken the sinless Virgin Mary, body and soul, into His glory. In our first reading, from Revelation, we find God’s temple in heaven opened and the Ark of the Covenant revealed. The most sacred item in Israel’s history, the Ark had been missing since the Temple’s destruction in 586 B.C. Thus, John reports some startling news. Even more startling is his revelation that the sacred vessel is now a woman, who is mother of the royal Son of David, the Messiah. Of this woman, then, we sing to God as the ancient Israel-ites sang: “The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.” In the court of King Solomon, we glimpse Israel’s traditional arrangement: Solomon’s mother, Bathsheba, takes her place at the king’s right hand (see 1 Kings 2:19). At Mary’s Assumption, as we see in Revelation, the queen once again takes her place at the right hand of the Son of David. Our second reading shows us why this is fitting: “in Christ shall all be brought to life, but each one in proper order.” What is implicit in St. Paul’s statement is revealed in Revelation. The consummation of Christ’s work has begun, as is proper, with the Assumption of the queen-mother. John’s Apocalypse shows also the fulfillment of our Gospel. There, Mary, pregnant with Jesus, retraces the steps of David as he brought the Ark to Jerusalem (see 2 Samuel 6). Mary “arose and went” into the hill country, just as David “arose and went” to that region. Upon Mary’s arrival, Elizabeth is awestruck, just as David was before the Ark. The encounter causes the baby John to leap with excitement, as David leapt before the Ark. And Mary stayed in the “house of Zechariah” for “three months,” as the Ark remained in the “house of Obed-edom” for the same period. Mary is the vessel of God’s presence, and she is queen-mother. She reigns now in splendor with Jesus in the heavenly Jerusalem. A service of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology www.SalvationHistory.com
