Hundreds, if not thousands of eggs appear in our yard. I’m not sure if they fall from the sky or if they grow up out of the ground, but one morning I show up to work and there they are. This has been happening for years. After a couple of years of this happening, Steve and Patty decided that they didn’t want to pick them up anymore, so one year they invited all the neighborhood kids to come over and pick up the eggs. The children would pick up the eggs and throw them away. Until one day little Jimmy cracked open an egg he had picked up and inside was a delicious piece of chocolate. Sally saw this and cracked open the egg she was holding and found a piece of paper with a number on it. She took the paper to Patty and was given a cool toy. From that day on the children around Fletcher wait anxiously for the eggs to appear, so they can hunt them and see what treasures await inside. I know youre all asking yourself the same questions… Mike, how do you know what day to schedule the Easter egg hunt if you don’t know when the eggs will magically appear?, where do the toys and slips of paper come from?, and why do you ask people to bring a dozen filled eggs if they all just appear out of nowhere? These are all good questions. Come on out to Poor Farmer’s Campground on April 11 th at 2PM. We will have three different age groups doing the hunting so you don’t have to worry about my nine year old running over your four year old to get the golden egg. What’s a “golden egg”, you are gonna have to come on out to the campground to see. We will have a yard full of plastic eggs and a table full of plastic toys… every kid’s dream. Every year Poor Farmer’s Campground has a weird phenomenon happen right around the time of Easter. Sally saw this and cracked open the egg she was holding and found a piece of paper with a number on it. She took the paper to Patty and was given a cool toy. From that day on the children around Fletcher wait anxiously for the eggs to appear,

so they can hunt them and see what treasures await inside. I know you’re all asking yourself the same questions… Mike, how do you know what day to schedule the Easter egg hunt if you don’t know when the eggs will magically appear?, where do the toys and slips of paper come from?, and why do you ask people to bring a dozen filled eggs if they all just appear out of nowhere? The Darke County Sheriff Patrol Home

and Sport Show

The 2015 Home & Sport Show at the Darke County Fairgrounds had a larger than normal turnout. The committee for the event booked some great entertainment, pulled in a kiddie tractor pull, and invited many businesses to advertise their product and offer some great deals. This event is the largest fund raiser for the Darke County Sheriff Patrol and many of the brave men and women who patrol Darke County were in attendance. Mad props go out to my homies: Denny & Jacque Shoenleben for helping me watch the booth Friday Night, Isaac for hangin with me for a couple hours Saturday night, and Tony and Cherrie Dippolito for the multiple reliefs. BTW, Mikie says thanks for the marshmallow gun.

2015 Rule Changes Learn em, love em, live em

Please be alert to these two rule changes: Rule #10 - The dumpsters are for household trash only. Please do not dump any large items (i.e. furniture, tires, appliances, etc.) into the dumpsters. Help us to leave enough room for everyone to put their trash in the dumpster and keep the area looking good. When large items get thrown away, it causes the household trash to overflow. Another way to conserve space in the dumpsters is to separate your aluminum cans and place them in the blue Shriner barrels. Rule #14 – All campsite dump fees must be paid before we can dump your tanks. The sign-up sheets will be in the camp office and parts store. You must pay the $8 in advance in order to be put on the list. rule #24- Relax and have a great time! That means if I see anyone not relaxing and having a good time, I will be forced to stop and attempt to make you smile, and remember I have a pretty sick sense of humor.

New Neighbors?

Did you get a new camping neighbor for 2015? We had a few campers pull out and threw a new camper right into their spot. If you are a neighbor to any of our new campers, make sure you introduce yourself and let these folks know that you are there to help. New campers will always have questions; so if you don’t know the answer to a question, just fake it, the new guy will probably believe about anything anyway. I still have one camper who believes that our camp office manager, Janice Werts, once dated a Beatle. Ha… Noobs. At least let them believe your all great people, cause I kinda use that as a selling point for this place. I speak awful highly of you my Poor Farmer’s Campers so be polite and courteous to the new guy,,, even if you have to fake that too. ☺

Last Day to RSVP for Get-Together

If you haven’t already, call the Parts Store to put your name on the list for the annual Get-Together. Chuck Lyons will be catering the event once again. This is a great time for all of you new campers to meet other campers at Poor Farmers. We will be going over new editions to our schedule, introducing the staff, and handing out door prizes. One lucky man and woman will be drawn to win the BIG prize. The Get-Together will be held on April 12th, at 6PM @ the Fletcher firehouse.

Annual Electric Golf Cart Challenge

Memorial Day Weekend

5-23-15 3:00 PM

Get your Electric cart charged-up for the second biggest golf cart event at Poor Farmer’s. After last year’s Golf Cart Rodeo, Rick & I have discovered all types of new ways to make your golf cart move. This year, instead of just a barrel race and obstacle course, Rick will be setting up the starting tree so you can drag race mono-e-mono with your fellow campers. I have been trying to talk Rick into setting up a jousting competition but he keeps telling me all about the dangers of driving a golf cart with a twenty foot spear sticking out the front of it. Oh well, maybe he’ll go for my next out of the box idea… a half pipe!
