PRINCIPAL’S REPORT GINAYA YARNOLD

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we draw closer to the wonderful Fair day, we are hoping for beautiful weather next Saturday. The children have been very busy in class with their learning and I know that they have thoroughly enjoyed preparing their Fair Craft for you to purchase next week.

THE FAIR: Only 1 week to go! After months of planning and contributions from virtually every family, members of staff and many local businesses, we are ready to host a Fair that will be right up to the standard of what people have come to expect from St Agnes’. It has been a great community building event and a tribute to the support offered by our Aggies’ families. We are especially grateful to our Organising Committee, the school Staff and Stall Coordinators who have done an outstanding job. All that is left to do is to invite you all to come, bring your friends and enjoy the Fair.

KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION TIME: You will see from the photos on the front page that the Kindergarten children for 2016 have been thoroughly enjoying their Transition Time activities at school. We have had our second group of children participate in this experience and both weeks have been a lovely opportunity for the children to get to know staff and the school environment in a small group and casual setting.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION: After an enthusiastic initial meeting at the end of last term, I know that many of the Year 6 graduation committees have been meeting or catching up via phone, to organise this fantastic night. Preparations are coming along beautifully and we just wanted to take the opportunity to thank those parents that have taken on this role for our current Year 6 students. It’s going to be a fantastic night!

CAR PARK PICK UP: A huge thank you to all parents for assisting with implementing the agreed rules and procedures for Car Park Pick Up. I am sure you have all noticed that it is a much safer environment for all of our children.

RANGER UPDATE: I have been informed that there have been additional Rangers employed through the Council to monitor school zones more closely. During previous terms, we have had the Ranger arrive for morning drop off and unfortunately, several families have been booked during this process for not following road rules. I have been advised that further school patrols will also now take place for the afternoon pick up. Please be aware that any car that is double parked, stopping in the bus zone or displaying dangerous behaviour will unfortunately receive a fine. Please ensure the safety of all staff, children and families by driving safely within the school zone.

PLANNING FOR 2016: As mentioned last week, we will soon begin the process of forming new class groups for 2016. If there is anything that we should be aware of that will affect your child’s placement, please contact me in writing, within the next 2 weeks. This is not an opportunity to choose a teacher - but simply the sharing of information that will assist us in making good decisions. It is difficult to make changes when the classes are finalised and virtually impossible at the beginning of the school year.

ARE YOU MOVING AWAY FROM PORT MACQUARIE?: If you know your child won’t be returning to St Agnes’ for the 2016 school year, could you please let us know as soon as possible, as we have had a number of families enquiring about possible enrolments. Your assistance in this regard is much appreciated.

ACTING ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT CHRISTY ISMAY

FAIR: Counting down now! Only one week until we open the gates to the greatest Fair in town! So much work has gone into ensuring that next Saturday will be our most exciting fair yet! With a few new stalls, such as a Nearly New Clothing and Silver Jewellery stall, the children are very excited to come in and see how things have changed! Most of your old favourites will still be in operation, with Country Pickings, Glow Products, Craft, Badges, Santa Photos, Supermarket Surprise (previously known as Grocery Gamble) and the Heavenly Hamper stalls. Kid Zone is looking to be one of our best yet, with sponge throwing, a photo booth and a Which Teacher Will Kiss the Fish stall, as well as many other old Kid Zone favourites!

With one week to go we have a checklist for you, to make sure that you are ready for the big day!

• Have my children bought their $5 Fair Hand at school?

• Have my raffle tickets been returned to the Office, sold or unsold?

• Have I returned my goods for a Heavenly Hamper?

• Have I had a big clean out at home and brought in any donated books, toys, nearly new clothes, or garage sale items?

• Have I returned my helper note to let the committee know when I can help on the day?

• Have I returned my Santa photo envelope? • Have I thought about what I will be baking for

the bakery plate that will come home soon?

As you can see, without your help, the Fair cannot raise the amount of money that it has in the past. Looking forward to a fantastic day!

It was great seeing the group of parents come together in the Staff Room to sit and bag the lollies

for the lolly bag stall this week. There are many people working busily behind the scenes to make sure that the 2015 Fair is going to be amazing, but to walk in and see them all sitting, working away and having a good laugh with each other, really summed up the Aggies community spirit. They bagged up 583 bags of lollies in just a few hours! Thank you Ladies!

Year One CLASS PARENT NETWORK FUNCTION: The Year One Class Parents are busily organising another grade get together, this time just for parents. All Year One families would have received a letter from their Grade Parents, inviting them to dinner and drinks at Zebu on Friday, 27 November. This is a great chance to get together with other parents from your child’s grade and celebrate a fantastic 2015. The RSVP for this event is through www.schoolinterviews.com.au using the code TCHQ4. Please RSVP by Wednesday, 25 November so that we can give Zebu the final numbers for dinner.

NEW ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND: Earlier this year, the decision was made to put the 2014 Fair money towards upgrading our Primary Adventure Playground. After hitting a few roadblocks along the way with current drainage issues and the cost of fixing these, we have now decided to move the Adventure Playground to a new site. This will be situated between the current 2B classroom and the tree on the top oval. Plans have now been approved and we have booked in the Forpark Playground company to come and install the new equipment over the Christmas break or at the beginning of Term One 2016. Some equipment on the old primary site will remain, such as the climbing wall and the spider web. We thank the P&F for this generous donation and look forward to seeing the new equipment up and running in 2016.

LEADER OF SPORT / PDHPE CLAIRE MICHELL

CONGRATULATIONS: Nathaniel Fox recently represented the school at Polding at the NSW PSSA Rugby Union in Narrabeen. Nathaniel was lucky enough to be selected by the NSW Waratahs to go into a Development Program called Trac Tahs. This will require him to travel to Sydney 3 - 4 times a year to be trained by some of the country's best forwards coaches. He is welcome to remain in the program until he is 17. Congratulations Nathaniel!

COACHED SPORT FOR TERM 4: Students in Years 5 and 6 will be involved in a 6 week coached sport program in Martial Arts, Netball and AFL. A special thank you to Rachel Fox who assisted me with the netball program this week. Coaching will happen regardless of the weather.

ZONE SUMMER SPORT TRIALS: On Monday over 40 students in Years 4 and 5 travelled to Kempsey and the Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium to trial against other Hastings students in the sports of Touch Football, Basketball, Softball and Cricket.

These students were terrific ambassadors of our school. Congratulations to the following students who were selected and will be attending the Lismore Diocesan Summer Sports Trials held at Lismore/Goonellabah on Friday, 20 November:

Basketball: Zayn Galea, Lacey Grainger, Jack Kirkby, Savannah Orobello and Caleb Prior.

Cricket: Caleb Blanch, Lahni Cramer and Phoebe Minogue.

Touch: Corey Fletcher, Ben Howarth, Jasmyn Hunter and Toby Lewis.

Softball: Andrew Castelletto and Tyler Leonhardt.

Tennis: Kaleisha Alchin and Liam Toomey.

Please remember to have your consent forms returned to Mrs Michell by 4 November and ensure you have completed the online registration. A special thank you to those parents who came to support the children on the day.
