Dear Brother Knights,
As we watch all that is going on around the United States and abroad it makes our presence
all that much more important and that we spread the good word of the Lord.
With recent news of the finding of the section of Flight MH370, our prayers and concerns go
to all those who have had a loss of a family member or friend on that flight. I am reminded of how
precious life is when I think of that flight that disappeared on March 8th 2014 from Kuala Lumpar to
Beijing for two special reasons. 1st is that on that very day I turned 55 years old and 2nd is that I was
on that flight just a few weeks earlier for business.
Everything must happen for a reason and sometimes we will have bad times and I believe
there is a message to all that goes on. For example, my meeting was delayed for weather and could
have easily been rescheduled for that very day, yet I wanted to get back home and decided to not re-
turn.
What is the reason I was elected the Grand Knight of Council 7131 and will have our installa-
tion of officers at the September meeting before the Installation Dinner? I often ask myself what is it
that I should be doing that all the Past Grand Knights have done and if I should do what they did as
things were done well. Then I think back to what is going on around us and think that maybe it is
time for some things to stay the same but yet allow a few to change. When I hear sayings like, “this
is how we always have done things” I start to wonder. What would it be like if Thomas Edison was
told stop playing with those pieces of glass and copper, we always have used candles and have been
doing so for hundreds of years. What if he listened, or what if he gave up during the 14 months and
1400 attempts. How many of us would be so determined and diligent.
We have a wonderful team of Officers and support brothers in positions of responsibility that
I am confident that my 1st year will be a great one. Behind every Super Bowl Coach was his Super
Bowl Team and at Council 7131 we have that team.
We will focus on several items this year starting with bringing one new member into the
Council each month and working with that new member to get him involved immediately. It was
suggested that we have the new member assist in the next 1st degree and I thought that was brilliant.
We are going to work on doing more for the community and to work on interacting on a social level
and not always trying to be on the fund raising level.
We have part of our calendar approved and I am confident that we should get most all of our
requested dates for 2015, but I will get confirmation at the next Parish Council Meeting in August.
I am looking for more involvement of our membership at events and not just helping, but to
be there in support. I got to thinking that it could be possible that some of our members may not
want to drive in the evening and if that is the case then we need to set up a car pool service to get
everyone involved.
Vivat Jesus,
Thomas Senatore,

Brother Knights,
I hope everybody is enjoying their summer and vacations. In the midst of the
summer, the Knights are not on vacation, we are still conducting business as usual.
For that reason, I’d like to remind you that dues were due July 1, 2015. By now, the
second notice has been sent out. I want to thank all of you that have met your
responsibilities by paying your dues. For those that have not yet paid the dues, will
not be able to participate in any meeting or ads or any Knights publication until the
due is paid.
I’d like to take a moment now to clarify an issue that has occurred with honorary
members. Honorary members were sent a bill for $13.00. I know that honorary
members do not pay for dues. The bill for $13 is not a charge for dues. About six
years ago, before I was financial secretary, council #7131 took a motion to amend
the By Laws and added that every member be charged a $3 fee to help pay the
assessment that we get from Supreme and the state for the Culture of Life. That
amendment was passed and was added to the By Laws. As an officer, it is my
responsibility to obey by that amendment. Therefore, honorary members are
charged $3, the other $10 attached to the bill are voluntary and are marked as
such. I hope this explains the bill.
Have a great summer and may God bless you and your families.

Think You Are Too Old for Coverage? Maybe Not
You are never too young or too old to consider purchasing life insurance. If you
have a financial need for coverage, or will in the future, a permanent life insur-
ance policy can be just the thing you need.
When you are young and presumably healthy, coverage will be very inexpensive
when compared to purchasing the same policies when you are older.
If you’ve put off purchasing coverage, or you realize that you may need addi-
tional insurance, the Order may still be able to help you, even if other companies
cannot. In fact, in 2012, the issue age of our permanent life insurance products
was extended to age 80, and in 2014, the issue age of our term insurance was ex-
tended to age 70. Naturally, your health, and whether or not you smoke, will be
taken into consideration, so underwriting standards for risk and age apply. But,
the extensions are a great blessing for me – and it could be for you too. Now I
can help members that I couldn’t help before. Are you or one of your brother
knights one of those members?
Whether you’re 18 or 80, the Knights of Columbus has products that will work
for you and your family. I look forward to discussing coverage with you.
