Dear Friends,
This year we are bringing our summer Chimes to you in May
and this edition will include the months of May, June, July
and August! At this point we have our pews fastened down
(Thanks to Craig, Hal, John, and Diane!). We have the tile
flooring completed to the Narthex. The front of the church is
now beautified with palms, plants and flowers. The roof over
the Narthex has been replaced. The roof over the work shed
has been replaced. The AC in Krysher Hall has been convert-
ed and repaired so there is no longer a leak and it now will
take the more environmentally compatible Freon and the
failing AC unit for the office has been replaced.
So what’s next on the agenda? That’s a good question! We
would like to renovate the working sacristy. The sacristy
needs new cabinets and a closet. It was built in the late
1970’s of particle board. There are drawers that don’t open
and there have been water leaks into the cabinets causing
water damage. The vestry has approved renovations and our
Junior Warden, Hal Smith, has been getting bids. Hopefully
we will soon be able to get to work on that sometime this
summer and hopefully be through before September.
We would also like to do some work on the office building.
We have been told that we are out of compliance with the
fire code by the Hernando County fire marshal in a couple of
our offices and we are trying to work at getting into compli-
ance. One of us has his theology books too close to the ceil-
ing and another of us has her music sheets too close to the
ceiling. (I will let you guess who these two culprits are.) We
are trying to shuffle things around so we meet fire code
standards. We hope to also go through and eliminate some
of the many boxes we have stored in the cabinets and attic.
Our church is growing which is great news! But with growth
there are growing pains. We need more people to step into
more roles that have opened up. We need more people to
help with Heartline. This ministry is one that helps people
who cannot drive themselves to the doctor or to pick up pre-
scriptions or even get to church. If you would be interested in
helping here, please let Hank McInturff know. His number
is (352) 597-5809 or you can call the church office and let
Lisa Emerson know.

We also need people to help with running the computer dur-
ing the church services. It is not difficult but it is a ministry
to the whole congregation. We need more people to volun-
teer as LEMs. We have training meetings twice a year and if
you have a question about becoming a LEM, please talk to
me or Deacon Elaine or Deacon Ludwig.
We have a new Altar Guild director. Gail Niedurny, who has
faithfully done this for so long, has had to step away from
this position. Now Glee Gates is our new director. She needs
some more ladies to assist her in this very important, sacred
ministry.
We are looking for adults who enjoy toddlers and preschool-
ers to help out in the Toddler Room during the 10:30 church
service. If there is someone who has a heart and vision to
teach and organize this group of children, God may be call-
ing you to lead this ministry. Others may simply want to help
out every few weeks. If you have any questions or would like
to volunteer in any capacity, please contact me.
And then we need people who will help in the Thrift Store.
This ministry is one that enables us to help many hundreds of
people throughout Spring Hill. Typically people work a three
-hour shift which is a half day. One could work the entire
day as well. If you would be interested please let me, Rich
Kovacs (813-732-8388) or Norman Neill (352-340-5511)
know.
We are in the season of the celebration of Christ’s resurrec-
tion. And what does that mean? Easter is the season we are
reminded again of death and of life. We are reminded why
we have a reason for an expectation of life after death. We
are reminded that because God raised Jesus from the dead we
can trust everything Jesus said was true! The season of East-
er is the time we once
again look over the
expectations we have
and thank God for his
great love shown to us
through Jesus!
May the God of our
Lord Jesus Christ
bless you richly this
summer as you serve
Him and try to know
Him better.
Warmly in Christ,
Fr. Lance

Altar Guild
Glee Gates,
Coordinator
Welcome to glorious May! As most of you
know, due to health reasons, Gail Niedurny,
our long-time director of the Altar Guild has
graciously handed over the joy of this min-
istry to me. With her love and faithfulness
she has guided me through Holy Week and
Easter celebrations. My special thanks to
everyone who volunteered their time during
the Holy Week activities from stripping the
palms, carrying water and towels, arranging
flowers, stripping and preparing the altar
and everything in between. Your work and
dedication is appreciated! Thanks too, to
Diane Wallace for her untiring support as
we move forward. As we approach a more
relaxed time of the liturgical year, please
consider becoming a member of the Altar
Guild. Pray about this ministry and consider
it as you make your plan to serve St. An-
drew’s. It does not require physical
strength, endurance or stamina but only the
love of God and His church.
Our love, gratitude and prayers are with
you, Gail, for your many years of devotion
and commitment to the Altar Guild. We
will miss seeing you “behind the scenes”.
Coffee Hour Barbara Ingram & Jackie Ruth, Coordinators
Please sign up for coffee hour and show
every one your hospitality. Ask others to
help; it only takes a group of three to make
it happen. Please remember our usual
snacks, cheese & crackers, fruits etc. And
remember our diabetics. Please sign up on
the yellow pad on the refreshment table.
Please call the office 683-2010 if you have
any questions.

Sr. Warden’s
Remarks
Craig Gates, Sr. Warden
Dear Friends in Christ,
Perhaps some of you are like me, still catch-
ing my breath after attending the glorious
activities and services of Holy Week leading
up to Easter Sunday and the resurrection of
our Lord! The Maundy Thursday, Easter
Vigil and Easter Sunday services were joy-
ous and well-attended and we look forward
to having some of our visitors become mem-
bers.
A special thank you to all who contributed
their gifts of time and talents to make these
services joyful and meaningful including The
Altar Guild, Lems, Ushers/Greeters, the choir
and those of you who worked behind the
scenes to make everything look effortless
during our worship.
As we move into the warmer May weather,
we will see many members leave for their
summer homes. You are an important part of
our church and we wish you a safe journey
and look forward to your return. The month
of May will also include the Vestry Retreat at
Day Spring, Fr. Lance taking a much de-
served vacation and celebration of Mother’s
Day. We are happy to welcome Fr. Fred who
will be filling in while Fr. Lance is away.
May you have a blessed month ahead and see
you in church.

I want to thank
everyone who participated in our Spring
Clean-up. Our campus looks great as we pre-
pare for Easter. We have had a busy Spring
and many things were accomplished: new
roofs on the church and maintenance facility,
the parking lot resurfaced, and air condition-
ing units repaired/replaced. Now it’s time to
enjoy our church and its campus as summer
comes upon us. It’s time for reflection and

Music Notes
Jody Bowes,
Minister of Music
What a glorious Easter season we are having
so far! Maybe it was really Thanksgiving,
because I am so thankful for the blessings
our Music Ministry received and continues to
receive. I give thanks for our Sanctuary
Choir and for the additional choir and solo
singers who added their voices on Easter
Day; for the musicians who played so beauti-
fully; for our congregation who sang their
hearts out on every hymn; to the tuners who
maintained our organ and piano; to our cler-
gy who support our music ministry with their
encouragement and prayers; for our Altar
Guild for the beautiful way our Sanctuary
and Altar looked; for Tom, Hal, Craig and all
the helpers who put our Sanctuary back to-
gether after the pew and flooring renova-
tions; to everyone for your Easter cards and
prayers. I am so grateful to be part of such a
community of Love.
I will be looking for volunteers soon for our
Summer Soloists program. This is an oppor-
tunity for any parishioner to sing (solo, duet,
or with a small group) or to play an instru-
ment at the Offertory and/or during Com-
munion at one of our 10:30 am services in
June, July and August. I will have a sign-up
sheet at the organ, just let me know when
you’re available. I am happy to work with
you on any musical gift you want to offer to
our congregation.
Our new choir robes are due to arrive within
the next month. We will be ready to vest in
our new garb for Kickoff Sunday in Septem-
ber!
May you all keep your hearts and minds in
tune with God’s unending love, as we contin-
ue to grow together in harmony.

Pastoral Care Ministry
Janet Crisfield,
Facilitator
The Pastoral Care Team brings the presence
of Christ to the homebound, hospitalized and
those who are in Rehab and extended care
facilities. Holy Communion and Anointing
for Healing are offered. If you do not feel
called to administer Holy Communion and/or
Anointing a caring visit and prayer are con-
sidered an important part of this ministry.
One of the original members of the Pastoral
Care Team is Bev Clohset. She attends the 4
pm service on Saturday with her husband
Phil. They both have served as readers and
Lay Eucharistic Ministers since 2007. They
joined St Andrews in 1997 and Bev has
served in many roles. She was Clerk of the
Vestry for 5 years, on the School Committee,
Personnel Committee, worked in the office,
drove people to appointments, and served as
a greeter at the 4 pm service. As you can see
Bev is a caring and giving member of St An-
drews. She continues to make pastoral visits
to hospitals and the homebound. Thank you
Bev for your caring and devotion to our St
Andrews family.
The next meeting is May 24, 2017 at noon in
the library.
Training and screening is required. If you
feel called to this ministry please call Janet
Crisfield 796-9389 or Fr. Lance in the office.

Sunday School Miss Susan,
Miss Colleen
& Miss Jeanie
We learned about the Savior who
weeps and the importance of having
your own tears bottle. We learned a
new bedtime prayer and discussed
the need for all of us to come to
terms with prayer. On Palm Sunday,
we heard about the people had treat-
ed Jesus by laying their cloaks out
and cutting branches from palm trees
to spread them on the road treating
him as royalty. We also scientifically
noted the different names of animals’
babies (such as a calf, lamb, etc). On
Easter, we tasted because the Resurrec-
tion of Jesus was just that—a surprise!
We greeted each other by saying “He is
risen” and responded with “He is risen
indeed!” Easter Surprise Cookies
