Today’s Readings First Reading — You taught your people that those who are just must likewise be kind (Wisdom 12:13, 16-19). Psalm — Lord, you are good and forgiving (Psalm 86). Second Reading — The Spirit comes to aid us in our weakness (Romans 8:26-27). Gospel — Jesus proposes parables to the crowds, teach-ing them of the reign of God (Matthew 13:24-43 [24-30]). The English translation of the Psalm Responses from Lectionary for Mass © 1969, 1981, 1997, Interna-tional Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved.
Today is July 23, 2017 and the Sixteenth Sunday in Or-dinary Time. The Responsorial Psalm is, “Lord, you are good and forgiving.” (Psalm 86:5-6, 9-10,15-16) On July 26, we celebrate the Feast of our patroness St. Ann and her husband St. Joachim.
Use Some New Words, Impress All Your Friends!
collywobbles (n) – butterflies in your stomach logolespsy (n) – an obsession with words eunoia (n) – beautiful thinking with a well mind lagom ( n) – not too little, not too much (Swedish) noceur (n) – one who stays up late to revel or party pluviophile (n) – a lover of rain, someone who finds joy and peace of mind during a rainy day eleutheromania (n) – an intense and irresistible desire for freedom tarantism (n) – an uncontrollable urge to dance, believed to have been caused by the bite of a spider
Most of these words don’t even show up in spellcheck! As soon as you can pronounce all of them, call and let me know.
Another new word for me―meme: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users. Some fun meme sayings:
“Collect moments, not things.” “They told me I couldn't and that's why I did.” “Throw kindness around like confetti.” “I've always loved the idea of not being what people ex-pect me to be.” “No one is too old for fairy tales.” “You only know a part of me; I am a universe full of secrets.” “Attract what you expect. Reflect what you desire. Be-come what you respect. And mirror what you admire.” “Reflect God's love for you and share it with all who you meet.” Serving Him Together, Barb A.
