Frank Allan, the retired bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta, once addressed the Diocesan Council saying that the most precious commodity in the 21 st century will be our time. Time will be valued, measured and offered as we meet the demands of life. It is also important that charity towards others includes our time. When offered, this becomes another way to express the divine love of God in the world. We insist on giving of ourselves to experience the true meaning of the holidays. It is a good lesson for children that some how gets lost as we become adults. We are coming to the end of our formal Stewardship Drive. This year members are asked to donate time and talent to the church as well as money. Coupled with the Advent and Christmas message of God’s love being made incarnate, giving our time and talent takes on a deeper meaning. We seek to make the love of God a reality in our actions and presence. You are encouraged to make a pledge of your time and talent. Regardless if the budget meets all our financial needs and more, or is bare bones, the worship, mission and life of the parish requires the time to be involved and the talent to make them effective and valued. The offering of self is a gift. In this gift we embody the love of God that first came to us in the birth and life of Jesus Christ and is offered without ceasing for the world and for the church.
