In today’s gospel reading, Jesus institutes the Eucharist. The Eucharist implies bond, not only with our God but also with one another. In sharing the bread and the wine, we share new life, but we also share the joys and sor-rows, happiness and despair of the family community. By taking part in Eucharist, we implicitly acknowledge that we have a larger family and their destinies are intertwined with our own. In reality, we live out the obliga-tions of this family bond in our everyday lives, after we have gone out from our place of worship. By provid-ing one another support, understanding, patience, sustenance, or whatever else is needed, we confess that we cannot, we must not go it alone, After all, we are bonded with each other and God in the Eucharist.

En la lectura del evangelio de hoy, Jesús instituye la Eucaristía. La Eucaristía implica un vínculo, no solo con nuestro Dios sino también entre nosotros. Al compartir el pan y el vino, compartimos nueva vida, pero también

Per Diocesan Guidelines in order to be eligible for 1st

Reconciliation and 1st Communion your child must:

Be Baptized Child should be at least in second grade or equiva-lent age. Child must be enrolled in and regularly attend religious education program for one full year pri-or to the year of preparation or in Catholic school. The second year the child must regularly attend religious education sessions (Wednesday PRE) or Catholic school in addition to the special preparation

sessions (Sunday mornings) for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion. Register at PRE registration.

Registration dates to choose from: Child must be present for ID photo 6/1– 8/31in the parish office Wednesday 8/1 at 6:30-8:00pm in Mary’s Hall- Sunday 8/5 9:00-10:30am in Mary’s Hall- After 8/6 – 8/31 in the parish office.

$50 registration fee per family AND $50 volunteer fee Installment payments can be made thru the office over the summer. Registration is required before 8/31, even if registration payment can-not be made at this time.

Our parish is forming a Medical Safety Team to be prepared for medical issues that arise during Mass or other parish events. Desired persons for this team would be persons with medical knowledge and training such as doctors, nurses, EMTs, those certified in First Aid and CPR, etc. If you would like to be a part of setting up this team, please attend the meeting on Wednesday 6/13 at 6:30pm (after the Wednesday evening Mass). Your attendance does NOT commit you to be a part of the team, but your input and knowledge is valuable to the setup of this team.

The theme for the 2018 Bible Institute is: “A Lively Sense of God: Treasuring the Old Testament Witness to God.” Brother John Barker, OFM, will be the keynote speaker. He is a Scrip-ture professor who teaches at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. This event also includes prayer, small group faith sharing, discussions with the speaker and Mass. It begins at 7 p.m. Friday, 6/15 and ends by noon on Sunday, 6/17. The $125 registration fee includes four meals. It does not include housing. Participants may request on-campus housing at St. John Catholic Center at the time of registration. Single occu-pancy is $40 per room, per night and double occupancy is $50 per room, per night. Space is limited with fees by Friday, 6/1. Scholarship requests up to $50 are available. Pre-registration is required. The Bible Institute is sponsored by Little Rock Scripture Study. These volunteer Coordinators are with the Eucharistic Minis-try, Ushers, and Liturgical Music. The Liturgy Committee meets 3-4 times a year. We help organize, develop, and grow our Parish’s Liturgical life.Consider these points as you re-flect: At the door, our Ushers are the face and voice of our parish family. Music is in the words of St. Augustine “… he who sings praise, is not only singing, but also loving Him for whom he is singing.” And the Eucharistic ministry offers to the faithful, Christ himself.
