2nd Sunday of Lent: February 25 That we may answer, “Here I am, Lord,” whenever, wherever and however God calls us to serve Him.

kneeling in church. But how easy is it to say

“Here I am, Lord,” when a neighbor needs our help, when we are invited to join

Message from the desk of the Pastor

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today’s Gospel brings us a story about the illumination of Jesus on a mountain top in the presence of his closest disciples, Peter, James and John. Tradition tells us that this mountain top was Mount Tabor. However, the name of the mountain is not given in any account of the Transfiguration and so we are invited to ponder the symbolic significance of this major event in the ministry of Jesus.

Abraham was a good man and like Noah, he had complete faith and trust in God. God put this trust to the test when he asked Abraham to kill his son Isaac.

God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. How do you think Abraham must have felt? He must have felt very sad, but his faith and trust in God were so great that he was ready to do anything God asked.

The word sacrifice means to offer something for the sake of someone else. In the Old Testament, people would sacrifice animals by killing them and offering them to God. Life is the most precious gift of all and these offering showed how much they loved God.

In the New Testament, God sent his only Son, Jesus to be sacrificed by dying on the Cross.

Abraham’s faith and obedience is an example to all of us. He always took God at his word and responded to his call, even when his faith was being tested beyond all limits. Like Abraham, we are called to journey into the unknown and respond to God’s call, especially when circum-stances make faith seem unreasonable. At moments of crisis, like at the death of a loved one when life is clouded with mystery, it is very im-portant to keep on trusting in God.

Lord, give us the faith and courage of Abraham to do whatever you might ask of us.

Make our trust and love for you grow stronger and stronger each day. May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or anything or pain. All these things are gone forever.

Revelation 21:4 NLT

With everything that has been going on lately, absolutely breaks my heart. I have watched several videos of the school shooting in Florida and my heart breaks for those students. I can never imagine being in that situation and being so afraid. Since I am attending college to be a teacher, it hurts me even more seeing this. I hope there will never be a day where I have to guard my innocent students that I adore so much from the shooter who is filled with hatred. I remember being in Elementary and I thought our country was such a safe place to live in. I never imagined that we had to worry so much about school shootings. It seems like everywhere we go is not safe anymore, which it is sad. This makes me so scared and sad for my future children because one day they will know the real truth about this world. No one is ever safe. Even though this world can be sometimes scary, I still have this urge to teach. I want every single one of my students to know that I love them and care about them so much. I will be teaching the future of the world, so I am determined to have a huge impact on them because I know they will change the world for the better. That is why I still want to teach. I hope and pray that all of this hate will go away. We can’t change the situation, but we need to all come together and figure out a way to prevent it from happening ever again. We can’t blame others for what happened in Florida. It is evil trying to take control of the world, but one day we won’t be living in this. God will wipe every tear away from our eyes and there will be no pain or suffering. He will wash everything away, but until the time comes, we have to take a stand and do something about it. Be the change you wish to see in the world. With that being said, please listen to the song “There Will Be a Day” by Jeremy Camp. “But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings. That there will be a place with no more suffering. There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears. There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more. We’ll

see Jesus face to face. But until that day, we’ll hold on to You always.” Kylie

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.

Feast Day: June 13th

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request). O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.
