direction, and docile to all aspects of seminary formation.

JPII Robotics Attends 2021 SC VEX State Championships ...and returns as Skills Champ!

The John Paul II Catholic School SHIELD Robotics teams traveled recently to Greenville, SC, for the 2021 SC VEX State Championships, and Team 61317A re-turned as the SC Robot Skills Champs! The team will be competing remotely May 20-22 in the 2021 VEX Robotics World Championship. Only 16 teams from South Carolina earned an invita-tion to compete at the high school (VRC) level and JPII had two teams participate. Both VRC teams were strong competitors moving into the finals of the tournament after 24 qualifying matches.

grimage of faith on earth, awaiting fulfillment in heaven.

In view of these truths, as Shepherd of the Diocese of Charleston, I consecrate and entrust the

Diocese of Charleston with all its members and institutions to our paternal care,

development and safety.

Guide us according to the Holy Spirit t achieve the purposes that God the Father establishes through the Church founded

by our Lord Jesus Christ. Inspire our minds and hearts to assure our continuous fidelity. Assist us to be the worshipers

and witnesses that God the Father deserves.

We are thankful to those who have made a pledge to our Bicentennial Campaign. After this past weekend, St. Antho-ny Mission now stands at $158,819 raised through 5-year pledges and one-time donations, which is only $1,181 away from our Diocesan-assigned target of $160,000. As a reminder, we have our own target of raising $240,000 to more adequately address our needs. Only 21% of our registered parishioners have committed to this effort, and this is something that will truly benefit us all. If you’re still prayerfully considering a pledge or dona-tion, please keep your heart open to the needs of St. Anthony Mission, and join your fellow parishioners who have kept the faith in our future! ¿QUIEN ES EL ESPIRITU SANTO?

Espíritu Santo es la tercera persona de la Santísima Trinidad. Es una persona distinta del Padre y del Hijo (primera y segunda persona de la Santísima Trinidad)

pero posee con ellos una misma naturaleza y esencia divina.

El Espíritu Santo deriva del latín Espiritus Sanc-tus que se refiere a la gracia divina que se revela para entrar en comunión con los creyentes con el fin de

contactarse con Cristo o con Dios, en otras palabras, el Espíritu Santo es el que despierta la fe cristiana.

El Espíritu Santo es sinónimo de Divina Gracia, Espí-ritu y Paráclito. En el evangelio de San Juan se afir-

ma que el Paráclito se quedará con los discípulos des-pués de que Jesús ya no sea visible. Paráclito provie-ne del griego parakletos que significa “aquél que es

invocado” y del latín consolator que significa consuelo y se caracteriza por: defender del cas-tigo, salvar del peligro y entregar la salvación eterna; por otra parte es el ayudante de nues-

tras almas. Para los cristianos, el nacimiento de la iglesia es marcada precisamente con el descenso del Espíritu Santo sobre los discípulos de Jesús luego de su crucifixión y resurrec-ción llamada Pentecostés.

A continuación reflexionaremos sobre los dones del Espíritu Santo y como actúa cada don en nuestra vida.

DON DE LA FORTALEZA

Perfecciona la virtud de la fortaleza, dando a la voluntad un impulso y una energía que la hacen capaz de sufrir alegre y valientemente, y de realizar grandes cosas, superando todos los obstáculos. Reduce el pe-

simismo, vence las vacilaciones en el decidir, los temores ante los obstáculos.

Empuja a la acción y vuelve heroico en el sufrir, ya sean enfermeda-des físicas o tribulaciones morales. Permite obrar, soportar y empren-

der sin vacilación o temor las cosas mas difíciles. Decía san Ignacio de Antioquia: "Sean fuertes y firmes como el yunque bajo el martillo" Es un martirio superar las calumnias, las persecuciones, los desprecios,

las humillaciones, es como derramar la sangre gota a gota.

TIENE POR OBJETO: Sostener la debilidad humana en todos los momentos. Vuelve al hom-bre fuerte y constante en la ejecución de sus santos propósitos; lo vuelve fuerte y valeroso para vencer las tentaciones, sobre todo las que vienen del demonio.

Continuamente tenemos que pedir este Don a Dios, que lo comunica especialmente en la confesión y en la comunión, por que de la confesión salimos renovados y purificados con nuestra voluntad fortificada. De la comunión salimos como leones espirando fuego de amor,

aguerridos contra satanás. Para cultivar el don de la fortaleza; es necesario aprovechar todas las pequeñas ocasiones

para vencernos practicando la paciencia, la disciplina de la vida.
