  • The Social Action Committee will be sponsoring its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Drive on Sunday, November

19th, from 7:00 am--1:00 pm in the Church parking lot abutting the lot side of the school. As in past years we will gratefully

accept complete dinners, or just turkeys, or just the fixings (gravy, potatoes, stuffing, relish, canned vegetables, dessert, etc.)

We thank all for their past participation.

    JOE CROTHERS

Admission to Candidacy & Institution of Acolytes and Readers Masses

Having recently entered his third year in the Diaconate Formation Program, Joe Crothers will participate in two milestone Masses this semester at St. Joseph’s Seminary in

Yonkers. The first Mass marks the Admission to Candidacy for Ordination which took place on Friday, November 3rd. The second is for the Institution of Acolytes and Readers

on Friday, December 15th. Both Masses are scheduled for 7pm. The Institution of Acolytes and Readers dates back to 1973, when Pope Paul VI issued the apostolic letter Ministeria Quaedam, establishing the lay ministries of reader, (lector) and acolyte, which were to be given to all candidates for Holy Orders. The word “acolyte” simply defines a person assisting the celebrant in a Mass or procession. To date Mr. Crothers has also

been studying for a Masters in Theology Degree at St. Joseph’s, which includes courses such as “Philosophy,” “The Old Testament,” “The New Testament,” “Moral Theology,” “Christology,” and “The Trinity,” among others. The Masters Program is now part of

Diaconate Formation. Our Lord willing, Mr. Crothers will be ordained a Deacon for the Archdiocese of New York in June of 2019.

REMINDER!!! Parish Council meeting on Monday, November 13th. All are expected to attend.
