‘Pray together, learn together’ stbenedicts.npcat.org.uk ST BENEDICT’S CATHOLIC Headteacher Message, Dear parents, carers and children, Well done everyone! Children, mums, dads, grandparents, aunties and uncles, support bubbles, teachers and teaching assistants; all of you have worked incredibly hard and now we can enjoy a well deserved half term. Won’t it be lovely just to spend each day with our families and having time away from the screen! We have been overwhelmed by the support from all of you - our St Benedict’s family, in the way you have emailed, telephoned simply to say thank you to the staff, for what they have achieved in such a short time. We know it is not ideal and the best thing is to have each and every child in school. Let’s hope that we hear some news about this soon and we can start to plan a safe transition back into school for your children. Our Facebook page is full of children’s wonderful achievements. Please watch out for our golden envelopes arriving in the post over the next few weeks. These are a reward for the hard work and commitment of those who have engaged so well in remote education. We really miss you all. We have been reaching out to our friends in Ghana this week and Mr Sturdy and Mr Todd have taken on the Ghananian Dance Challenge - give them your vote by liking the post and comment who you think should be the winner this week! We hope you and the all the families in our NPCAT schools, including our neighbour St Bede’s have a relaxing, fun filled half term. Be creative, be active and be kind! Remember #wearestbenedictsschool Stay safe, stay at home and have a lovely weekend. Year of St Joseph

On the 8th December 2020, Pope Francis asked us to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of St Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church.

This year - 8th December 2020 to 8th December 2021- will be dedicated to St Joseph. In school, we will get to know St Joseph as our guardian and helper and the man chosen by God the Father to care for Jesus.

St Joseph’s Feast Day - 19th March 2021

A prayer for our parish

Blessed Nicholas Postgate

As we begin the season of Lent in the Church's year, let us think about all of our parish community.

May our prayers and actions this Lent support them during these strange and difficult times.

May we be moved by God's love to reach out to them in our turn, especially to those who are alone, so that no one may feel abandoned or forgotten.

You are always in our thoughts, prayers and actions.

Amen

Message from Fr Derek,Dear Children, Parents and Carers

On Thursday we welcomed Children in Year 6 and their families as they shared our parish Mass for the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes on YouTube. The Thursday before we had welcomed the whole school. Children in their classrooms shared in the Mass on their whiteboards and children homeschooling shared in the Mass on their televisions, tablets, computers, or mobile phones with their parents and carers. Thank you to everyone who joined in and I look forward to sharing Mass this way with other classes soon.To remind us of the Feast Day you might like to pray this prayer:

Holy Mary, mother fair,Filled with love for God,

Pray for us in all our needs.Pray for us today.

You can join in our Parish Mass on Sundays at 9.30 am via our YouTube channel: ‘Blessed Nicholas Postgate, Redcar and Marske’ and you might like to know that we broadcast Mass every weekday at the same time except on Wednesdays when we have Mass at 7.00 pm in the evening.

With all good wishes, Father Derek

Assembly for the feast of our Lady of Lourdes.

Today we celebrated the feast of our Lady of Lourdes. Our Year 4 children led a virtual assembly for the whole school to watch. It was lovely to gather and pray together as a school family⛪

Act of Kindness

Yesterday, one of our pupils knocked on his neighbours door and asked if hecould clear his path of snow, so that he didn't slip on the path. Such a wonderful thing to do; we are so proud of you!

Good News

Last week, one of our pupils went with her dad to help deliver laptops to a school for children who are struggling to access their online learning at home. It’s so lovely to see members of the community pulling together to help those who need it. Thank you 😊

Year 3 Artwork

We’ve been exploring the human skeleton in science this week and used art straws to create our own skeletons before labelling the names of some of the bones.

Making Soup

Year 3 were sharing after reading the story 'Stone Soup' as the first lesson of our new RE topic. Some children made soup, some made shortbread, some shared other types of food to see how good it feels for us to share with each other.

Nursery home learning

The children have been having lots of fun making pancakes, playing in the snow and making Lenten Promises
