~PASTOR’S NOTES~

“I believe that it is very important that we return as soon as possible to a common orientation, of priests and the faithful turned together in the same direction—Eastwards or at least towards the apse—to the Lord who comes, in those parts of the liturgical rites when we are addressing God. This practice is permitted by current liturgical legislation. It is perfectly legitimate in the modern rite. Indeed, I think it is a very important step in ensuring that in our celebrations the Lord is truly at the centre.” (Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Con-gregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments) I am again asking you, our parishioners, to consider volunteering for our Friday evening bingo fundraiser and also for our Sunday collection counters. Many of our current volunteers have been helping for literally decades. Certainly there must be some newly retired and younger people who wish to help out our parish. It is only a few hours per week in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The more volunteers we have the less frequently hey will need to help out. Income from bingo allows us to do many projects to maintain our school and church buildings. There is a lot of work and expense just to keep up maintenance while there are many things that could be done to improve our grounds and environment. It also provides an opportunity to evangelize. We have a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere that speaks well of our people, parish and faith. Please consider volunteering and become a part of our ministry. Thanks to our volunteers, the parish has been able to continue to serve the families of our parish services during good times and difficult ones. In Jesus and Mary,Fr. Frank Samoylo
