Most of you are aware that Fr. Mark will be retiring this summer after serving our parish for the past eight years. As his retirement was officially accepted last week, we also learned who his replacement will be. This coming July, we look forward to welcoming our new pastor, Fr. Gary Mayer. Father Mayer grew up in Stacyville, Iowa and has been a priest for eleven years. For five years, he was assigned to Dubuque, IA, first as an associate pastor at Holy Ghost, Holy Trinity, and Sacred Heart parishes (now Holy Spirit Parish) and then at Resurrection Parish. While in Dubuque he also was a member of the faculty and the chaplain of Wahlert Catholic High School. For the last six years, Father Gary has been the pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Charles City and Saint Michael Parish in Nashua. Father Gary's parents live in Stacyville, Iowa and his brother's family in Saint Ansgar, Iowa.
