Student SuccessDuring Easter, Luke Brooke-Smith and Katja Stupar competed in the National BMX Championships in New Plymouth. For the fourth year in a row, Luke won his age group championship and this year Katja came 13th. This is a fantastic effort and we congratulate both athletes. Later this year, Luke will once again travel to the BMX World Championships to be held in Azerbaijan, in Eurasia, next to the Caspian Sea.

Twilight hockeyThe season has finished and it was fabulous! Many thanks to the parents who gave their time to coach and manage teams. We could not do it without you. There are still a couple of outstanding subs. Please pay $11 to Mrs J.The next twilight season is in term 4.

Term 2 BasketballHelp! We have too many players and not enough

parent helpers for our keen basketballers! Can you help coach a team on Wednesday afternoons?

If we don't get coaches and managers we will have to restrict the team to the original senior boys team.

Celebrating Girls Football We were fortunate to have Keiza Singleton from Northland

Football Federation visit our school to coach and promote girl’s

football during the Girls and Women’s football week earlier in

March.  Keiza was joined by Anya Gross and Caitlin Alabaster,

two talented and successful Northland footballers.

Our girls had a wonderful time learning new skills and thoroughly enjoyed the

opportunity to get out and have a go.  We are also grateful for the kit of footballs received from NZ Football for our school.

Lunchtime Gardening Club

Our lunchtime gardening club, that runs every Wednesday lunchtime, is already proving very popular. Any student can turn up and help, and goodness, what wonderful helpers we have had!So far we have been focusing on weeding our vegetable gardens. Now that is done we will be digging in fresh compost and planting a winter garden. Other gardening projects will follow. Our gardens were originally set up thanks to a grant gained from the Regional Council. Our vision was to teach students about growing their own fresh food and to be able to donate produce grown to needy families and organisations such as Soul Food.

Parents / grandparents are welcome to come and help during our Wednesday gardening sessions. We are also trying to source bulk Daffodil bulbs. If anyone can help with information please contact myself, or our caretaker Shaun Hacker.

Happy gardening.Mrs Cash - Room 4

We welcome new student Cypris Kea who started in our school this week...

Shoes and Socks!A friendly reminder about our uniform. The children are

required to wear black Roman sandals when we are in summer uniform. In term 2 and 3 the children may wear winter uniform and the shoes are flat, black and polishable. Lace up or Velcro shoes are permissable. Our socks are navy blue (not black). There seems to be a lot of non-regulation footwear creeping in. We have a lovely uniform and we wear it with pride. Please see Mrs J if you have any uniform queries.
