DearFriends, We inallymadeit.Wesurvived.Allthesestressfulpastfewweeksofbeingpulledinalotofdi-rection,ofrushingthrough lastminuteshoppingandpreparations,ofdealingwiththeanxietiesoftryingnot togainmorepounds thanwecouldhandlewithall thepartieswe“have” toattend,arenowbehindus.Thisweekisjustgoingtobespentquietingdownandrelaxing,atleastformostofusanyway. Buttoday,wesetasideallofthat.Today,weallputourmindsandourheartstojustonething…toaplace–inBethlehem.TodaytheworldstoodstillasheavenandearthkissinthatlittlecaveontheoutskirtsofBethlehem,whentheSonofGodallowedhimselftobebornalittleinfantinaman-ger. Butwhatdoyoumakeofthis?Asyouallowyourselftogobackto2017yearsagoandletyour-selfbepartof themangerstory,asyougoand join theshepherds ingazingat thenewbornbaby,whatgoesthroughyourmind? Let’s do some contemplation here; imagine yourself as one of the shepherds. Youwere on aieldsomewherewatchingoveryoursheepwhentheskysuddenlyexplodedwithbrightlightsandaloudchorusofvoices.Whatdoyousee?Whatdoyouhear?Howdidyoureact? Thenoneoftheangelssuddenlyexclaimedthatthesaviorpromisedtoyouhasbeenbornto-night?Howdoyoufeelaboutthat?Doyoufeelexcitedandjoyful? Thenyouandtheothershepherdswentinhastetotheplacetheangelindicated,inthecavessurroundingBethlehem.Hearingsuchgoodnews, Iwouldpresumethat theydidnotdally in theirjourney,theywentinhaste– justasMarywentinhastetohercousinuponhearingthatElizabethhasconceivedachild(amiracleinitself).Imagineyourselfrunninginhastetomeetthelittlebabywhowasgoingtobeyoursavior. And thenyou areuponhim, anduponhis father andmother. Youdonot know theirnames.Thenthemotherheldthebabytoyouandyour fellowshepherdsandintroducedhimtoyou–hisnameisJesus.Andthenyourcompanionsstartedtofallontheirknees.Whataboutyou?Doyoure-mainstandingordoyoualsofalltoyourknees? Youlookattheparentsandtheirfacesglowwithjoyandful illment.Thechild’sfaceissereneandpeacefulashesleepsinhismother’sarms.Whataboutyou?Howareyoufeelingwhenyoulookatallofthis?Dotheirfacesalsodrawyouintoyourownjoyandsenseofful illmentordotheyspeaktoyouofyourownlongingforsomething? Thenyoulookaroundand,indismay,younoticethatthecaveismessy.Itsmellsbadly.Animalsareeverywhere.Youstarttothink,thisisnotaplace itforasavioroftheworld.Andifthissaviorisgoingtobeaking,hedeservesabetterplacethanthis.Suddenly,anangelappearedbesideyouandwhisperedinyourear;theonlypalacedeservingofakinglikethisisinyourheart.Whatdoyoudo?Willyoulethimintothepalaceofyourheart?Areyouwillingtolethiminsidethere?Andifyouare,areyoupreparedtorevealtohimwhatisinthere? Perhaps,Jesuschosetobeborninamangerbecausethepalacethatheshouldbeinisnotreadyyettoreceivehim.Thatpalaceisinyourheartandhewaitsforyoutogetitready.Howsoonwouldthatbe?Areyoupreparedtolethimintoday?Howlongwillyoulethimwait? LetusberemindedthatChristmasisnotjustatimeforgatheringsandmeals.Itisalsoatimeforprayer–today,prayerisourwayofinvitingJesustocomeandliveinthepalacesofourhearts.Maywespendtimetodayinprayeraswell. ********** continued⇨

THANK YOU! St. Genevieve delivered toys and gifts to 118 families with 307 children living in our parish this Christmas season. The city wide drive includes 687 families with 1922 chil-dren. We are very blessed that our community is so generous and continues this important work to help families in need each year. Thank you again for your support of our annual toy drive and God Bless You and Your Families!
Also a Special Thanks...to Rosalie and Phil Shaw and all the volunteer elves for their sel lessness in making sure our area seniors had a wonderful luncheon and that area chil-dren will have a very Merry Christmas due to their efforts. We are so blessed to have all of you as part of our St. Genevieve Family!!!
