three days past fears were en-

tertained that the lower two thirdsof the nose would slough, but to-day, Mr. Travers is inclined tothink that the sloughing will bemerely superficial.

Friday 14th. Slept better ;tongue pale white, tip and edgesred ; pulse 78, hard; spirits good.Has hitherto been kept on milkdiet, but to-day is allowed to takemeat, beer, and porter; bowelsnot open since Sunday. Con-tinues his wine and bark.

Soreness of the head and upperlip still continues; some feelingin the nose ; of the same colour,black ; discharge from the partrather acrid ; no adhesion on eitherside; the left side of the nose

closer to the integument of thecheek than the right; wounds ofthe forehead dressed every day;the granulations are very healthy.

Three or four accidents havebeen admitted this week. Twoburns: a case of fractured rib,&c.

MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL.CASE OF STONE IN THE BLADDER.

Robert Haydett, 5 years old.Tais child has frequent desire

to make water, and after voidingit is in great pain. His foreskinis long and a little inflamed, andin the agony of his suffering hepulls the penis, drawing out theforeskin. These symptoms suffi-ciently indicate the presence of astone in the bladder.

Oct. 3. To-day the child wassounded, and a stone discovered inthe bladder=it is moveable, beingsometimes felt on the convex sur-face of the sound, and at othertimes on the concave.

7. He was again sounded to-

day, and the stone felt.18th. The sound was again

introduced, and at first the stonecould not be felt; but upon liftingthe hips and lower extremities,and making the child rest uponhis shoulders, the stone came

again in contact with the sound.He sleeps well, and suffers mostwhen he is up.

19th. The operation is fixed forThursday next, the 21st. Thebowels to be opened with small

! doses of calomel and rhubarb;and to have a dose of laudanumbefore the commencement of theoperation, with the view of’ ena-bling him to retain his urine.
