St. Gregory the Great Catholic School Presents AUTUMN HARVEST PASTA DINNER Hosted by our 2nd, 4th & 8th grade families FRIDAY OCTOBER 28, 2016 St. Gregory the Great Parish Hall Serving from 5:30-7pm $5.00 per child ~ $7.00 per adult Cake Walk & Raffle Prizes Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes! Our Blessed Mother, Mary, is our model of Gentleness. Her attitude of gentleness and grace under pressure, as outlined in the mysteries of the Rosary, is an inspiration to us and to our children. Knowing that God is by our side, in good times and times of challenge, is a comfort and source of strength. It is a joy to see so many of our students holding their rosary as we pray together for special intentions. Perhaps you can incorporate this beautiful tradition of Praying the Rosary, or even a decade of the rosary, as a family. October is also a month dedicated to outreach to the Missions. Throughout the year our school partners with the Missionary Childhood Association, encouraging our students to make small sacrifices to donate their coins to the missions. The Great Quarter Race is our service project this month as we partner with Cross Catholic Outreach in support of World Food Day. The profound generosity of our students and families last year enabled us to purchase 6,150 vitameals to feed the hungry around the world. Each vitameal, packed with vitamins and nutrients, cost 25 cents. Our goal this year is to meet, and maybe exceed last year’s donation. It is so important that our children understand that they can make a difference in our world. You may hear them asking for extra chores so that their donations can truly be theirs, the fruit of their labor. October is a time to reflect on disaster preparedness. In light of hurricane Matthew, which recently devastated the coast of Florida and country of Haiti, we realize the importance of having established protocols and procedures in place for both our school and family. Our school has a comprehensive Crisis Response Plan which includes protocols for a wide variety of disaster scenarios, including fire, earthquake and lockdown. Drills for these scenarios are conducted regularly. There is a three-day supply of food, water, blankets, light sticks, and sanitary facility stored on campus. All staff carry a mobile radio with a dedicated FCA frequency, and panic fob connected directly to our alarm monitoring company. Perhaps this month would be a good time to focus on your family’s Crisis Response Plan and to run some drills that will ensure preparedness and safety for your family. A variety of disaster preparedness resources can be found in the Parent Portal section of the school website. Blessings for a safe and gentle week! Mrs. O’Connell

Our Blessed Mother, Mary, is our

model of Gentleness. Her attitude of

gentleness and grace under pressure,

as outlined in the mysteries of the

Rosary, is an inspiration to us and to our children. Knowing that God

is by our side, in good times and times of challenge, is a comfort and

source of strength. It is a joy to see so many of our students holding

their rosary as we pray together for special intentions. Perhaps you

can incorporate this beautiful tradition of Praying the Rosary, or even

a decade of the rosary, as a family.

October is also a month dedicated to outreach

to the Missions. Throughout the year our

school partners with the Missionary Childhood

Association, encouraging our students to make

small sacrifices to donate their coins to the missions.

The Great Quarter Race is our service project this

month as we partner with Cross Catholic Outreach

in support of World Food Day. The profound generosity of our

students and families last year enabled us to purchase 6,150

vitameals to feed the hungry around the world. Each vitameal,

packed with vitamins and nutrients, cost 25 cents. Our goal

this year is to meet, and maybe exceed last year’s donation.

It is so important that our children understand that they can

make a difference in our world. You may hear them asking

for extra chores so that their donations can truly be theirs,

the fruit of their labor.

October is a time to reflect on disaster preparedness. In light

of hurricane Matthew, which recently devastated the coast

of Florida and country of Haiti, we realize the importance of

having established protocols and procedures in place for

both our school and family. Our school has a comprehensive

Crisis Response Plan which includes protocols for a wide

variety of disaster scenarios, including fire, earthquake and

lockdown. Drills for these scenarios are conducted regularly.

There is a three-day supply of food, water, blankets, light

sticks, and sanitary facility stored on campus. All staff carry

a mobile radio with a dedicated FCA frequency, and panic

fob connected directly to our alarm monitoring company.

family’s Crisis Response Plan and to run some drills that

will ensure preparedness and safety for your family. A

variety of disaster preparedness resources can be found in

the Parent Portal section of the school website.

Blessings for a safe

Father Donald Calloway, a former drug dealer, will have you on the edge of your seat as he candidly shares the amazing story of how he was unexpectedly led into the Catholic Faith, and to the priesthood, by God's grace and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
