We could begin this weekend but first there is much to do so we intend to start on Monday 6 th July with Mass at 10.00 a.m. followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 12.00 noon. Our programme then will be to have Mass daily Monday to Saturday at 10.00 a.m., Saturday evening at 6.30 p.m. and Sunday at 10.00 a.m. The obligation to attend Mass on a Sunday does not apply at this time so we would encourage all those who are able to attend Mass during the week to do so in order to leave Saturday and Sunday for those who are only free at these times. Distancing of the 2 metre rule will apply and benches have been marked accordingly. We will have capacity for 65 people although married couples and families will only count as one. On arrival a steward will take your details for “track and trace” purposes and you will be asked to use hand sanitiser. Stewards will be in attendance to direct you to your places. There will be: No Mass or Hymn Books No Music or Singing No Bidding Prayers No Offertory Procession No Children’s Liturgy No Sign of Peace Collection Boxes will be placed at the entrance/exit for your weekly offerings. Holy Communion can be received under one kind only. Instructions will be given before and stewards will be in attendance to direct you. Readers will be supplied with single use gloves and should avoid touching the microphone or lectionary apart from turning the page. The Homily should be brief. The Clergy should go to the Sacristy directly after the final blessing to remove their vestments if they wish to greet the people. Parishioners should be encouraged to return home after Mass and not remain in church. We ask everyone to respect and follow the guidelines and instructions. The church will be closed immediately after Mass for cleaning in accordance with the guidelines. Although we are still in difficult times we ask that you bear with us so that we can adapt to meet the needs of all our parishioners. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon. God bless you all. Fr. John Mark & Deacon Jim WE NEED YOUR HELP! Stewards are required for the 10.00 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Masses on Saturday and the 10.00 a.m. on Sunday. The guidelines state that at least two stewards must be in attendance throughout the time our churches are open for Mass. These should not be people classed as “vulnerable” i.e. over 70s and those with medical conditions. The job of the stewards is to ensure that sanitisation occurs at entry and exit points; that social distancing is maintained in church and that all seating that has been used is fully sanitised after each Mass. These measures may seem burdensome; they are, however, necessary if our church is to open safely. If you can help as a steward then please contact Fr. John Mark on 903904, Deacon Jim on 860980 or John Cairns, our Health and Safety Rep. on 795636. If we do not have enough stewards, we cannot open the church.
