PRINCIPAL’S PRAYER
Peace Prayer of St. Francis Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
peace peace peace

NOVEMBER 2017
2017 - 2018 is THE YEAR OF THE SCHOOL
NOVEMBER’S VIRTUE OF THE MONTH IS PEACE
Overview of the Virtue of Peace
Peace is a goal of all spiritual people
Peace begins within ourselves and is an inner state of well-being and calm.
People of peace promote non-violence, practice conflict resolution, and believe in cooperating to solve problems.
The root of the Hebrew word for peace, "shalom," means "whole" and points to this twofold meaning: peace within oneself and peace between people.
Catholic Graduate Expectation- I HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN WHO:
Acts morally and legally as a person formed in Catholic traditions.
Accepts accountability for one's own actions.
Seeks and grants forgiveness.
Promotes the sacredness of life.
Witnesses Catholic social teaching by promoting equality, democracy, and solidarity for a just, peaceful and compassionate society.
Respects and affirms the diversity and interdependence of the world's peoples and cultures. Respects and understands the history, cultural heritage and pluralism of today's contemporary society.
Exercises the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship.
Respects the environment and uses resources wisely.
Contributes to the common good.
Catholic teaching promotes peace as a positive, action-oriented concept. “Peace is not just the absence of war,” said St. John Paul II, “it involves mutual respect and confidence between peoples and nations. It involves collaboration and binding agreements.” Peace and justice are linked: Peace is the fruit of justice

Dear St. James’ Family,
THANK YOU PARENTS!!! CSPC is excited to announce that on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 we hosted our annual Dance-a-thon. The hugely popular Christian Leadership Team deejayed this event and it was the best dance party St. James has ever seen! Each class had approximately 50 minutes to show off their dance moves and have fun! We managed to raise approximately $1,700 in funds
which will be put towards new team uniforms and much needed sports equipment. We also would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Demonte-Bahr and the Christian Leadership team for hosting this fantastic dance. A 2017 Halloween slide show with all your children’s costumes will be posted soon on our St. James CS website! We also wish to acknowledge all the parents/children for donating dry and canned goods that will go to help the needy families at the food bank.

Planning for Your Future
During the month of October, students in several intermediate classes began to develop their Individual Pathways Plan (IPP), as they prepare to enter high school and think about what they would like to do beyond secondary school. Students logged into their myBlueprint and began to set goals for themselves, with a focus on learning skills; thought about the courses that they will be taking in high school; started to develop a resume; and explored various occupations and post-secondary pathways across Canada. Parents are encouraged to ask their intermediate child(ren) to show them the work that they may have done on myBlueprint and encourage them to continue to develop their plan for the future. Follow these easy steps. 1. Please go to www.myblueprint.ca/tcdsb.
2. Click on “Login with school account.”
3. Ask your child to use their TCDSB username and password to log in.
High School Applications
Parents of grade 8 students are reminded to be sure to get those high school applications back to the school and accurately completed so that the school can submit them to the Board by November 6th. Please have your child return the form on the due date given by their teacher. You may have also already received the After 8 Student and Parent Transition Guides. In them, you will find detailed information about the TCDSB Secondary School Application process. Ask your child about it if you do not see one by early November. They are also available online in English and several other Languages at this address:

GUEST SPEAKERS SERIES AT ST. JAMES CS Today Mr. Murphy from AGSpace came to discuss the agricultural business industry with the grade 6, 7 & 8 students. He gave us a lot of information. We learned about the jobs involved in the making of bread and trust me, it’s a lot! Then we learned about different agricultural jobs like a baker, farmer, miller, producer, gardener and much more. We also learned about different roles in the agricultural business for example, an AI Technician or a Director of Sales & Circulation are only two of the many roles in an agricultural business. Mr. Murphy gave us direction on what courses to take in high school and college/university. It was a very informative experience. By Kayla B, Gr 7
