Mr Schwager organized a very moving and reflective prayer time during lunch. Thanks Mr Schwager. One of the ways to mark this day is to engage in some simple research on any saint that you know. I have done this with Mary MacKillop. In reading about her life and times, I saw that her incredible acceptance of Christ’s love and her commitment to her faith resulted in her establishing schools across Australia and New Zealand during very challenging times and in adverse circumstances. The achievement was not the goal but the spreading of Christ’s love was what drove her. Within our own community in recent weeks we have witnessed our Mission Day and we see people in our Parish who continually reach out to others in need through the work of social justice groups. Saintly behaviour is all around us because the love of Christ is there, too. On this special day, asking ourselves about our response to the call to holiness is an interesting question to ponder. This Friday, commencing at 9:00, Father Greg will be joining us for a K 2 Liturgy. We are very fortunate to have Father Greg as our school Chaplain. However, we should never forget the importance of sharing the experience of Mass with our children at our Parish. St Brigid’s Parish can only continue to grow with your active participation. The Reflection evening for Reconciliation candidates is tomorrow evening. We will keep all of these young people in our prayers as they finalize their preparation for this sacrament. 4th November 2013

Welcome to Week 5.

Tonight (Monday) we welcome our 2014 Kindergarten parents to an information session

commencing at 6:30pm in our hall. It is always a nice meeting where new parents get to

meet families already a part of our school community. I am sure all of the new families will

feel very welcomed. The first Kinder Orientation session for the students will be held on

Friday, 22nd of November.

Last Friday was All Saints Day. The universal call to holiness is a key message of the day.

Mr Schwager organized a very moving and reflective prayer time during lunch. Thanks

Mr Schwager. One of the ways to mark this day is to engage in some simple research on

any saint that you know. I have done this with Mary MacKillop. In reading about her life

and times, I saw that her incredible acceptance of Christ’s love and her commitment to her

faith resulted in her establishing schools across Australia and New Zealand during very

challenging times and in adverse circumstances. The achievement was not the goal but

the spreading of Christ’s love was what drove her. Within

our own community in recent weeks we have witnessed our

Mission Day and we see people in our Parish who

continually reach out to others in need through the work of

social justice groups. Saintly behaviour is all around us

because the love of Christ is there, too. On this special day,

asking ourselves about our response to the call to holiness

is an interesting question to ponder.

This Friday, commencing at 9:00, Father Greg will be joining us for a K – 2 Liturgy. We are

very fortunate to have Father Greg as our school Chaplain.

However, we should never forget the importance of sharing the

experience of Mass with our children at our Parish. St Brigid’s

Parish can only continue to grow with your active participation. The

Reflection evening for Reconciliation candidates is tomorrow

evening. We will keep all of these young people in our prayers as

they finalize their preparation for this sacrament.

Our school, like all schools across the nation will be implementing the New Australian Curriculum

in English in 2014. In addition to English we will also be implementing the New Mathematics

curriculum. Students will develop their mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding through a

range of learning experiences across:

Our students will develop their problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning and students in Stage 3 develop

a deeper understanding in statistics and probability. This new Syllabus builds on the strength of the existing NSW

curriculum. As the new year unfolds there will be information sessions about these new documents. You can also

found out further information be visiting:

http://syllabus.bos.nsw.edu.au/support-materials/parents-guide/

Class allocations will be considered soon. If you have any serious concerns re your child’s placement for next

year, would you please address this to myself in a letter by 15th of November. These concerns should only address

very serious issues with students this year or in previous years. We are lucky enough to be able to give children the

opportunity to form close relationships with other children each year. It is a very complex process when trying to

meet the emotional and learning needs of all children. Requests are not kept on file and should be made each year.

This week it came to my attention that some students at the school were

inappropriately using Instagram and Kik. While at school no student is to access any unauthorised

social media via students’ personal mobile device (phone, IPads). The monitoring of any social

media use is the responsibility of parents. The school is happy to support parents and to educate

our students on the safe and responsible use of social media. I encourage ALL parents to read

the insert in this Newsletter by Catherine Gerhardt.

Gospel Reflection

When Jesus got there, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down! I want to

stay with you today.” Zacchaeus hurried down and gladly welcomed Jesus.

Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved, because

you are a true son of Abraham. The Son of Man came to look for and to save

people who are lost.” Luke 19:1‐10

The Principal Awards for this week are awarded to:

Samantha Miller 2 Gold, Milly Williams 2 Blue, Grace Clarke 3 Blue and Indianna Bealing 3 Gold.

Have a great week & God Bless

Anthony O’Leary
