In the gospel reading today we hear that there was a lot of confusion and running around at the reali- ty that Jesus had rose from the dead (Jn 20: 1-9). Jesus had warned his disciples and explained to them what was going to happen, but at that point they didn’t connect the dots. God’s plan really caught them off guard. Isn’t it so true in our lives that we get caught off guard by God’s plan? Where we see and feel like an empty tomb because of the consequences of sin, of just bad things happening or of evil that comes our way through others, it is hard to realize that God will re- deem those bad times by making them into blessings. It is so easy to falsely believe that if we just hang in their long enough, seize the right opportunity, then we will be free to walk away from our cross. Today we celebrate that Jesus wants to give us an Easter morning. Jesus wants to save us. Jesus wants to fill us with his graces because of the simple fact that we are choosing to carry our cross. As Easter people we have to have the hope of the resurrection in the pain of our cross- es. We have to trust that Jesus is always there, working a plan, re- deeming bad times with resurrection blessings.

RESURRECTION BLESSINGS

We are Easter people and Alleluia is our song. We celebrate that Jesus Christ did what no other person in the world has ever done - Jesus rose from the dead. We rejoice that Jesus did not allow the tempta-tions of the devil, his own human limitations or this imperfect world keep him trapped in a tomb. God the Father had a much bigger plan in mind - Jesus rose from the dead. In the gospel reading today we hear that there was a lot of confusion and running around at the reali-ty that Jesus had rose from the dead (Jn 20: 1-9). Jesus had warned his disciples and explained to them what was going to happen, but at that point they didn’t connect the dots. God’s plan really caught them off guard. Isn’t it so true in our lives that we get caught off guard by God’s plan? Where we see and feel like an empty tomb because of the consequences of sin, of just bad things happening or of evil that comes our way through others, it is hard to realize that God will re-deem those bad times by making them into blessings. As Easter people we have to have the hope of the resurrection in the pain of our cross-es. We have to trust that Jesus is always there, working a plan, re-deeming bad times with resurrection blessings.

Busy in the Office—Help out

by Using Online Giving! You can probably tell from just

the church bulletin that we get pretty busy this time of year! Ho-

ly Week, Easter, First Communion, etc. You can help us out

by using Online Giving instead of giving by envelope. Did you know church staff spend approximately an hour and

half processing checks/cash contributions every week, but it only takes 15 minutes to keep tabs on what we receive

online? That’s because online gifts go directly from your bank account to ours… no physical processing required!

Online Giving is secure and easy for you to use. Just look

for the link on our www.stjudepearl.org

Jubilee Year of Mercy

March 27, 2016 Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of the

Lord This is the day the Lord has made;

let us rejoice and be glad. Alleluia! Easter is

always, but especially in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the victory of God’s gentle but invinci-

ble mercy raising up Jesus, “faithful witness, the first-born of the dead” (Revelation 1:5),

“first-born among many brothers [and sisters]” (Romans 8:29), conquering death in all its forms, in all of us in the

human family. In Luke’s Vigil Gospel, heavenly messengers

send the women forth: “Remember what [Jesus] said to you” (Luke 24:6). In John’s Gospel, the empty tomb likewise

“sends forth” Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the Beloved Disci-ple, who believe though they do not fully understand. Finally,

Luke’s evening “Emmaus” Gospel sends us forth, as

“missionaries of mercy,” assuring us that we will encounter the Risen Lord, today and every day, in “the stranger” we

meet along life’s journey, in “the Word that makes our hearts burn within us,” and “in the breaking of bread” (see Luke

24:32, 35). —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
