We had another fantastic year with an unprecedented 53,142 interactions with children, parents and educators in the greater St. Louis community. I am so proud of our team of educational specialists and support staff who work together tirelessly to impact as many children as possible. We have the privilege of seeing each child's smile as they use their natural abilities along with new skills to learn with confidence.

Cognitive Educational EvaluationsOur diagnosticians evaluated 188 children, identifying specific issues and making recommendations to each child’s parents and educators.Personalized Tutoring148 students each worked one-on-one in 5,311 sessions with 16 special educators who helped them discover their unique learning style and develop new skills to overcome obstacles to learning.Family Advocacy & Consulting St. Louis LDA’s educational consultants worked with the parents & educators of 69 children to help them navigate the world of special education and to coordinate their children’s support systems.Early Childhood OutreachOur learning specialists impacted 2,717 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers through classroom assessments, teacher training & coaching, individual child screenings, and more at 36 early childhood centers in some of our community’s most under-resourced neighborhoods.Professional Development Workshops & Educational Classes1,535 attendees benefited from 95 workshops & classes, which are designed to raise awareness about learning challenges, teach students practical skills, and train educators & parents both to respond to struggling students and to create the optimal learning environment for every child under their care & instruction.

After years of operating informally as a grassroots effort with parent support

groups, St. Louis LDA receives a grant of $5,000 and moves into an office

space.

1995The St. Louis Post-Dispatch runs a feature story about how we help kids and families, doubling our reach.

1993

St. Louis LDA begins to offer a variety of workshops to the

community at no charge.

1996

We begin outreach into early childhood centers, and the annual

budget reaches $130,000.

2001

2002St. Louis LDA incorporates under

our own tax-exempt status, and the personalized tutoring program is

implemented.

Our staff is composed of 10 full-time and 19 part-time positions, and the annual

budget breaks $1,000,000.

St. Louis LDA has a record 50,546 interactions with 7,612 children,

parents, and educators, providing $334,013 in services (32%) at low to no cost through reduced rates

and need-based financial aid.

Children need hope, understanding, and compassion to learn and reach their full potential. St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association helps children by giving them the education and support necessary to succeed.
