St. Louis Scott Gallagher – Missouri Girls
03/04 (U11) Age Group Structure
& Player Placement
To Build the Best Club in the Country. A club that posi7vely impacts the development of our players on and off the field
and posi7vely impacts our community.
~ SLSG Club Mission I hope this document finds ALL of you, both current and incoming members of SLSG, enjoying your soccer experience. Earlier this Spring SLSG sent communica@on explaining the Placement Process and how the Staff has approached this age group moving in to 2014/15. The purpose of the informa@on that follows is to keep transparent; the club philosophy regarding the player Placement Process, the process by which age groups are formed, who will lead each team from a coaching perspec@ve, and now included are the players within each team. I wanted to personally thank all of you again for your commitment to SLSG. The Board and SLSG’s en@re Staff believe in our direc@on as an organiza@on and realize that we could never provide a posi@ve experience without our members. We are quickly approaching the beginning of our seventh year as a Club, and we intend to con@nue working hard to give the SLSG community the best experience possible. We want each and every player to feel a part of our mission and enjoy playing the game while making life -‐ long memories and learning values that they will most certainly need to succeed in the future both on and off the field. I hope that the changes you’ve seen in our Facili@es, Staff, Communica@on, and Training Curriculum reflect a commitment to providing a unique educa@on to the player. An educa@on that ins@lls values, discipline, enjoyment, and skill. Teaching the values we believe in through the challenges that the game provides is a passion the Staff shares and we will con@nue to refine on a daily basis. I can’t emphasize enough how much we all appreciate your support of the SLSG community. And I speak for the en@re Staff when I say we look forward to working with your family in the upcoming season. Sincerely, ScoW McDoniel
Prior to announcing the age group teams, coaches, and compe@ton please allow me to remind all members of the Club that each year around this Placement Process, coined ID2013. The Placement Process, by defini@on, is the process by which the club “realigns” teams within the club and places players from outside the club, each year. This process usually becomes very in-‐depth at the U10 going to U11age group when the Club introduces the Elite, Premier, & Classic Layers. The Club, however, will implement this philosophy of “like players playing with like players”, regardless of age. And since the dynamics of each age group differ, the steps by which the club will align teams varies. And, as always, the movement of players will be a coopera@ve effort between Staff, Individual Team Coaches, Club Trainers, & Parents. Division Leaders have been in the process of observing games within their respec@ve age groups to iden@fy players that may not be playing in the right team for their ability. To truly make this a coopera@ve effort the Staff will also rely heavily upon the recommenda@ons of Individual Team Coaches who feel they have a player/s who have been performing at a “different level” than the core of their teammates.
SLSG MO – GIRLS The Placement Process SLSG MO – Girls has officially begun its Placement Process, coined ID2014. The Placement Process, by defini@on, is the process by which the club “realigns” teams within and places players from outside the club, each year. This process usually becomes very in-‐depth at the U10 going to U11age group when the Club introduces the Elite, Premier, & Classic Layers. The club feels strongly about and will con@nue using the philosophy of “like players playing with like players”, regardless of age. But it is at this age (U10 moving to U11) we seem to see them most change throughout the age group as a whole. As always, the movement of players has been a coopera@ve effort between full-‐@me Staff, Individual Team Coaches, Club Trainers, and of course parents. Division Leaders have observed games within their respec@ve age groups to iden@fy players that may not be playing in the right team for their ability. And to truly make this a coopera@ve effort the Staff will rely heavily upon the recommenda@ons of Individual Team Coaches who feel they have a player/s who have been performing at a “different level” than the core of their teammates. In addi@on, this year we introduced the MO Girls Soccer School to also give added exposure and training to those who have been “standing out” on their respec@ve teams. SLSG realizes that the Placement Process can some@mes create tension within families, teams, and age groups. It is not the inten@on of the Club to con@nuously change the make up of each individual team and possibly add stress to our members lives. Instead, over the past six years, we simply try to adhere to a philosophy that we have witnessed provide the best experience for the players. We appreciate your trust in our “way” of providing the best structure for a player and the process that they follow from year to year. Without the support of our members the mission that SLSG lives by can never be realized.

The Process by which the Age Group and Teams were formed! The purpose of this note is to inform our members of the process the Club Directors have followed to solidify the rosters for The 03/04 age group. This coming season we have made a couple of changes with the team structure and organiza@on for the age group. Not only do we have changes within the structure of teams, but also in the coaches for the teams. Below you will see the 7 teams within the age group for the upcoming season and a brief explana@on about player movement. Team Structure and Coaches It has been previously communicated, but to confirm we have listed each teams leadership over the next year. Division Directors have spent a lot of @me working with these individuals and feel confident that each coach can provide a posi@ve experience for the players. Please see below the Teams and Coaches.

Player Movement Players were selected by each individual coach for the age group. There was certainly consulta@on between previous coaches, current coaches and or Club Directors about the best environment for each player. If you have any ques@ons about where your daughter has been placed please contact your coach or the assigned Club Director depending upon your daughter’s team placement. Note, that the team you are on is your main home, but there will be player movement throughout the season with regards to guest playing and or other determining factors the Club Directors and Coaches deem appropriate. Next Steps Please confirm with your coach that you have accepted a posi@on on his or her team. You will also be hearing from your coach (if you have not already), about selng up a team mee@ng to discuss the season, the start date, the compe@@ve calendar and other details the coach wishes to address. Final Words! SLSG, would again like to thank you all as members of the club, for your commitment to the SLSG family. Please know that we take the ‘Player Placement’ process very seriously and spend a lot of @me in discussions with coaches trying to determine the best environment for each and everyone of your daughter’s. If you have any ques@ons or concerns please contact MaW S@chling at ms@[email protected] or call him at 314.393.6356.
