— PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS —
O God, our provident Father, through your Son you have
revealed to us the mysteries of the Kingdom; you will
that all men and women be saved and come to the
knowledge of your Truth. Send workers into your great
harvest, grant that more men will serve your Church as
priests for the Diocese of Providence, that the Gospel
may be preached to every creature and your people,
strengthened by the word of life and the sacraments, may
advance in the way of salvation and love. Through our
Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with
you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God forever and
ever. Amen.

The Pastor’s Corner
This week marks the 100th anniversary of the final
apparition of Our Lady to the three children of Fatima,
Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia. How much did Our Lady
warn us about violence and war? The unimaginable events
in Las Vegas have shocked the entire nation and the world.
This tragedy is such a senseless slaughter of life. Our
prayers are with the families who lost loved ones; and we
pray for those who died, that they rest in peace.
Today’s reading from St. Paul’s endearing Letter to the
Philippians is a reminder of our entire Christian journey:
“Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard
and seen in me.” Such great action words; learning,
receiving, hearing and seeing. Would that you and I be
such exemplars of the faith! If one man caused so much
sorrow in Las Vegas, think of what we can do even more by
living the faith in St. Margaret’s Parish and School. As I
mentioned last Sunday to the children at Mass, the example
we give our children in everything forms their souls, minds
and hearts.
Intricately tied to the Catholic identity of St. Margaret
Parish is its 60 years of quality, affordable elementary
education. The School Board, PTO, faculty and parents
work tirelessly in this primary ministry of the parish. This
past Monday, in response to St. Margaret’s School’s very
positive ten year evaluation in 2015 by the New England
Association of Secondary Schools (NEASC), the School
Board invited talented professionals, both parishioners and
friends, to form a three year Strategic Planning Committee.
Our goal is to make recommendations to move our school
forward in five identifiable key areas (in alphabetical order):
even greater heights in academic excellence; development/
enrollment with a plan to attract, retain, and serve the
needs of our students and families; to realistically evaluate
our facilities and creatively address the ever evolving needs
of the school; marketing and “branding” the school and
publicize it in a social media world, and integrating new
technology to strengthen innovative learning and to
facilitate stronger communication both within and outside
of the school community.
Christian learning is a life-long journey for all at St.
Margaret Parish and School. It’s a wonderful place to
worship and to learn. Look deeper! You’ll see all of us
preparing a new generation of Catholic leaders for a fast
changing world.
