PASTORAL LEADER
It is our annual Missionary Weekend at St. Martin of Tours. We will have the Canons Regular of the Order of the Holy Cross, better known as the Crosiers joining us. Brother Timothy was originally going to be at our Saturday Mass, but has been taken ill. Fr. Virgil will be celebrating our Sunday Mass and preaching then. The Crosiers mainly operate in Indonesia. Fr. Virgil has been serving on the island of Papua, Indonesia. During World War II, the island of New Guinea was the scene of a number of vicious battles between the Japanese Imperial Army and the Allies of the U.S.A. and Australia. Over 52 years ago, the Second Vatican Council issued the Decree on the Church’s Missionary Activity (Ad Gentes Divinitus). Here are two quotes from that document: “The special end of this missionary activity is the evangelization and the implanting of the Church among peoples or groups in which it has not yet taken root.” (n. 6). “Lay people should cooperate in the Church’s work of evangelization and share in its saving mission both as witnesses and living instruments . . . “(n. 41). What this means is that people like Brother Timothy and Father Virgil are the ones who have accepted the call to be a missionary. We are the ones who are called to support them. Let us generously do so!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Sacred Heart parish in Shawano is offering Shipwrecked Bible School this summer. From June 18 through June 22 (1:30 to 4:30 ) kids pre-school through grade 5 will discover how Jesus rescues us in the storms of life. LITURGY OF THE WORD
Liturgy of the Word is a very special ministry for the children of the parish. This is held during Sunday Masses from Oct. through May each year for young children. We are in need of a confirmed adult to continue this program for the upcoming year. We will provide a book to give you all you need. If you are interested in helping, please contact the parish office.
EMMAUS RETREAT SCHOLARSHIPS
The Ladies of St. Martin of Tours have 4 full scholarships to attend the Emmaus Retreat in October at Camp Tekawitha. For more info call Helen Kallies at 715-526-5878

SAM 25 UPDATE
Sam 25 Homeless Shelter in Shawano is open from Nov. 1 through April 30. They had a busy sea-son. There were 2,234 nights of stay by guests, and 6,631 meals were served. There is a SAM 25 Re-source Day every Tuesday from noon to 2 pm. SAM 25 is continuing to investigate opening a Community Medical/Dental Clinic.
