Pursuant to Article II, §1 of the By-Laws of the St. Mary, Mother of the Church Pastoral Council, the MethodofElectingMembers is to be published the last weekend of September. The By-Laws state:

ArticleII METHODOFELECTINGMEMBERS

Section1:SetupforNominationsandElections At the September meeting of the Pastoral Council, the Chairperson will appoint an Election Committee of three non-council members to oversee the nomination and elec-tion process. On the last Sunday of September the election proce-dures will be published and distributed to the Parish at each Mass. Section2:ProcessfortheNominationforMembership Ballots for nomination will be available at each Mass on the 1st and 2nd Sunday in October. Ballots will be col-lected after each Mass on the 1st and 2nd Sunday in Octo-ber as parishioners leave the Church. All registered pa-rishioners, eighteen years and older, will be eligible to nominate. All nominees are subject to Pastor’s review; thePastor has the right to remove nominees before and after publication of the list. Section3: ContactwithThosePersonsNominated Before the 3rd Sunday in October, all those nominated will be contacted by an Election Committee Representa-tive and asked if they would be willing to serve on the Pas-toral Council if elected, under terms of the Constitution and By-Laws. If the nominee accepts, a questionnaire will be sent to the nominee to ill out and return. The Election Committee will draw up a personal outline (resume) of each nominee from these questionnaires and furnish them to the Chairperson for review and approval by the Pastor. Section4: ElectionofNewMembers On the 1st Sunday in November, a personal outline (resume) of each nominee will be published and made available to each parishioner. On the 2nd Sunday in November, a ballot with all nom-inees’ names (in alphabetical order) will be available to each registered adult parishioner. These completed and signed ballots will be collected or deposited in the rear of the Church, in a designated Ballot Box. In order to ensure one vote per parishioner, ballots will be signed. Unsigned ballots will not be counted. On the 3rd Sunday in November, the names of the elected members will be published in the Parish bulletin. All ballots will be kept on ile by the Secretary of the Pas-toral Council for one year.

Jesus hace hincapie en la importancia de las pequenas obras hechas con fe, de la misma manera que las grandes obras como echar a los demonios. “Todo aquel que les de a be-ber un vaso de agua…por el hecho de que son de Cristo…les aseguro que no se quedara sin recom-pensa” (Marcos 9:41). AdultEducationOpportunitiesAdult Faith Formation: All adults are invited to a class on basic Catholic studies in English on Sun-days 11:30 AM – 1 PM. Anne and Roehl Santos lead this class. The class follows the children’s calendar. Contact Roehl for information at [email protected]).

SafeEnvironmentTraining The Recognizing Child Abuse class for Safe Environment Training is Thursday, October11th at 7 PM in St. Joseph Hall. Volunteers who work with children are required to take the class every 5 years. Contact Marie Chenevert in the Faith Formation Of ice at 919-772-5199 to sign up.

On Wednesday, October3rd, Fr. David will hear confessions from 5 PM to 6:30 PM in English. During this time the Blessed Sacrament will be ex-posed for adoration. First Friday Eucharistic Adoration takes place on Friday, October5th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at the end of the 8 AM Mass. Adoration concludes with the Litany of the Sacred Heart and Benediction at noon. Saturday, October6th is First Saturday. Mass is at 10:15 AM.

As a parish community, we are called to support these seekers through our prayers irst and foremost! But each candidate in the RCIA is also partnered with a St. Mary’s parishioner willing to share this journey of faith with him or her in the months preceding the sacrament celebrations at the Easter Vigil (4/20/19). Are you a fully initiated, practicing Catholic? Are you open to being a partner with someone in the RCIA? Come and see!
