Clean? What do you think of when you think of the
word “clean?” Like most of us, we want our house,
cars, food, and even our clothes clean. Yet, the
readings of today, is talking about something more
cleaner than “spic and span,” per se.
The First Reading from the Book of Leviticus 13, and
the holy Gospel according to Mark, the leper asked
Jesus to make him clean. So, it is the physical
autonomous of the body.
Leper is considered to be “unclean.” During the time
of Jesus, they are outcast and cast away members of
society, because there was no cure. Jesus moved with
pity to the leper when he asked and cured him. First,
Jesus’ was moved with pity, stretched out His hand,
touched him, and said, “I do will it. Be made clean.”
Yes, we are in need to be “healed” and “cleaned”
from this illness called leprosy. What do we need to
be cleaned from? What do we need to be healed
from?
St. Paul gave us answers. He didn’t want to be two-
faced to the Corinthian community when he gave
advises. Paul advised his community to first, “Do
everything for the glory of God.” Secondly, he said,
“avoid giving offense” to everyone, and thirdly, “be
imitators of me.” It seems that these three principles
guided the apostle for his whole mission in Christ.
Therefore, in order for us to be “cleaned” in mind,
heart, and soul from any deficiency from God: keep
and live the commandment of God, and let us think
highly of others. Respect one another and do

DISCOVERING CHRIST
Thursdays AT 7:00pm FROM
February 19th
to April 16th
Please join us in the St. Mary Mystical Rose Parish Hall for Discovering Christ. Enjoy free snacks and refreshments, listen to a dynamic teaching and join in a small group discussion about the meaning of life in Jesus Christ. Discovering Christ is a seven week series that will begin Thursday, February 19th and includes a life-changing Holy Spirit retreat on Saturday, March 28st.
This course is designed to help you renew or encounter for the first time a personal and intimate relationship with the person of Jesus Christ and/or to bring your family and friends who have been away from the church.
What gives ultimate meaning and purpose to life?
Why does JESUS matter?
How can I begin a better life?
There is no charge to attend. To sign up, or if you have any questions, email Randy at [email protected], or, call/text Randy at 248-515-6805, so that we may make plans and order participant books.
everything for the glory of God.
Also, Lenten season is approaching. Our LENTEN
journey begins this coming Wednesday, February 18th,
2015, we will be marked with ashes on Ash Wednesday.
This is our constant reminder of who we are and our
destiny. “We are dust and dust shall we return with a
clean soul back to God in His majesty and splendor.”
The leper asked Jesus, “’If you wish, you can make me
clean.” Jesus felt with compassion and love said, ‘“I do
will it. Be made clean.”’ We really need to be clean as
well. Amen.
ASH WEDNESDAY
Mass on Ash Wednesday, February 18th, 2015: 9:00am
& 7:00pm. I wish you a prayerful intimate relationship
with Jesus on your Lenten journey. Happy Lent Journey
(HLJ). God bless!

Youth & Young Adult Ministry
CSAMINUTE
“Unbound and Healed,” a retreat for those who minister to
youth and young adults, will be held March 6-7 at the
Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington, Michigan.
The retreat will feature three leaders: Auxiliary Bishop
Arturo Cepeda, director of the archdiocesan Department of
Evangelization, Catechesis, and Schools; Sister Mary Finn,
spiritual director and professor at Sacred Heart Major
Seminary; and Kathleen Lindemann, coordinator of
northeast regional evangelization for the Archdiocese of
Detroit.
Because of your gifts to the Catholic Services Appeal, the
Office for Youth Ministries is able to minister to those who
foster the spiritual and personal growth of our youth, and
empower them to become disciples of Jesus Christ and
actively witness their faith. The Office for Young Adults
and Campus Ministries continues this important work as
they enter college and life in the secular world.

Altar Servers:
Young people (boys and girls) who have received the
Sacrament of Eucharist are strongly encouraged to
serve the parish as Altar Servers. The Altar Servers
assist the celebrant throughout the Mass, beginning
with the procession at the beginning of Mass, right
through to the very end of the Liturgy. In addition,
they help prepare the altar prior to the beginning of
Mass, and assist after Mass is over. They are truly
present during every part of the Mass, and are an
essential component of the celebration. This ministry

Ushers/Greeters:
When you visit the home of a dear friend or a beloved
family member, chances are you are welcomed at the
door with a warm smile, a friendly “hello” and maybe
even a hug or a handshake. When you visit our
church, the house of God, you are greeted similarly.
The members of our Usher/Greeter ministry serve an
important role in our parish. They are the first people
you see upon entering our church building. The
ushers and greeters welcome parishioners to Mass and
assist with seating people as needed; they help those
with special needs and make sure there is plenty of
reserved seating for families at special sacramental
events such as baptisms. Additionally, they take up the
collection at the offertory; help coordinate the offertory
procession and direct people during Communion. At
the end of Mass, the Ushers and Greeters distribute the
bulletins and any other materials as people are exiting.
This is an ideal ministry for couples and families who
are looking for a ministry to serve in together.
If you would like more information about this ministry,
call the parish office 586-784-5966. Think on it, pray
about it, and if God is calling you to this ministry, sign
