GUIDING LIGHT ST. MARY MYSTICAL ROSE

We the faithful of St. Mary Mystical Rose Parish are a Catholic Community in the Archdiocese of Detroit. We serve God through His Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, with the empowerment and the

strength of the Holy Spirit: to celebrate the Holy Sacraments and Worship, Christian Service and Faith Education, to evangelize and practice our faith in active stewardship--with the faith, spirit

and humility of Mary, the Rose of God and our Patron Saint.

October 15, 2017 Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

I can do all things in him who strengthens me, (Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20). Our hope is from the Lord who makes heaven and earth, Amen!

Today’s Readings gave us some very good reflections of being

reliant on God for His providence and care.

Today’s Holy Gospel from Matthew gave us a clear glimpse of

God’s love and mercy for His indefinite invitation to be at His

presence. Jesus’ parable gave us the example of what the king-

dom of God is like. He provided it in the form of the “Wedding

Feast.”

Like Christian weddings, the couple invites their families and

friends to join their celebration in the Wedding Mass. The day

and time is set for the Wedding Mass to be celebrated. Wine is

prepared, bread is prepared, Scripture Readings are prepared,

Celebrant is prepared, altar servers is prepared, choir is prepared,

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist is prepared, Sacristans is

prepared, ushers is prepared, Church is opened, the Church cele-

brates the couple’s unity in the Lord, and most of all, God united

them from now ‘til death do they part.

The Church rejoices together with the newly wedded couple!

Congratulations! Then, the couple starts their lives together. As

time passes, challenges and problems arise. Health issues and

stress of life fill the house. Children face struggles of life. Again,

celebration of anniversaries, birthdays, promotions, joy, and love

sustains them.

Yet, the couple endures all things together, they believe in the

love they have for each other, they bear all the hardships in love,

care, serenity, and peace. WHY? They are united in the love of

God who blesses their lives together! They embrace all goodness

and hardships because they believe and know that they “can do all

things in God who strengthens them,” and love them uncondition-

ally.

Therefore, all Christian families: the Lord invites everyone to His

Wedding Feast, the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. He pre-

pared the ultimate banquet of His mercy for you and I every Sun-

days, and days of the week. He prepares the best of fine wine and

the precious bread of His holy body and blood for us. We will

receive Him with sincerity and humility of hearts. Encounter the

Lord, grow in His love and mercy, and evangelize the world in

faith, peace, and His joy. Yes-O-Yes, we can do all things in Je-

sus’ who strengthens and who is present within us always. Amen.

PAVING OF OUR PARKING LOT Let’s celebrate with joy! We are done with the work of paving our

Parking Lot. The work cost is $86,000.00. We used the rest of the

money from our Archdiocese Campaign of Changing Lives To-

gether and some money from the Building Fund on this project.

Our Second Collection for our Parking Lot and projects for our

Parish will still continue until our Building Fund will be in good

standing. Great job, YES, we can do ALL things with our love of

God, and His holy Church, and our Parish. You are greatly

appreciated!

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF MOTHER MARY, AND OUR PARISH PATRON SAINT As a remembrance of Mother Mary on this month of October, it is

our Catholic Christian faith tradition of praying together as a fam-

ily, groups, organizations, before meetings or pray the rosary with

her to praise and glorify the Lord our God for all His providence

and life in us.

Our Lady, Mother Mary, always serves her Son our Lord Jesus

with love and care. We do the same by serving and loving others

like loving our Lord. God bless.

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL (CSA)

Our second letter for our Archdiocesan Catholic Services Appeal

is coming soon and we encourage all our families who haven’t

pledged yet, to make a generous donation. Thank you for families

who pledged already. We are all united and are one in our Lord

Jesus.

Our CSA target is $34,429.00. Pledged as of now is $34,329.00.
