St. Mary Catholic Parish – January 20, 2013
St. Mary School will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week January 27 - February 2, 2013, the annual celebration of the high-quality, faith-based education the nation's Catholic schools provide. This year’s theme is "Catholic Schools Raise the Standards", which highlights the recent launch of a new initiative, the National Standards and Benchmarks for Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, to ensure consistent high standards at Catholic schools across the country. "Catholic Schools Week is a great opportunity to highlight the long-standing leadership of Catholic schools in maintaining the highest standards of an excellent education, steeped in the traditions of the Catholic faith," said Veronica Kinsey, school principal. St. Mary School serves students in preschool – grade 8. For more information, call 734-878-5616 or visit stmaryschoolpinckney.org. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/stmaryschoolpinckney

He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of
the power to love. There is some good in the worst of
us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover

SPECIAL COLLECTION
LIVE FAITH Next week, we will take up the collection for the Church in
Latin America. Latin American Catholics are often
characterized by their warm, humble, and passionate hearts.
They’ve been blessed by a rich culture as well as natural
resources. However, in these times of economic struggle,
poverty and violence are still major obstacles in their daily
lives. Your support helps give hope to people in the region,
especially the youth who seek to live the faith. It is more
important than ever that we support the Church in Latin
America and the Caribbean. Please give generously in next
week’s collection.

Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid! – Mark 6:50
When have you experienced Christ calming a storm in your life in the compassion and support offered by another – and when have you been the calming presence of Christ’s peace for someone? Prayer May we be your outreached hand to one another, O Lord. In embracing your spirit of peace and forgiveness, may we create in our homes and churches, our schools, and businesses, safe harbors of understanding and support for everyone struggling to keep their heads above life’s turbulent waters. In seeking to mirror your attitude of humility and selflessness, may we be a lifeline of support and trust for all who cry out to us for help.
