The last article on prayer in this section of the Cate-chism is its treatment of prayer as Praise (CCC 2639-2643). In theses paragraphs, we are taught that the prayer of praise is the most disinterested and pure form of prayer in that it is the one that recognizes God as God. "It lauds God for His own sake and gives him glory, quite beyond what he does, but simply because HE IS" (CCC 2639). This is the most truly mature Christian prayer. There is no hint of a transactional mentality, a tit-for-tat ap-proach to speaking to God. As we give loving praise to God, we simply give expression to our awe and wonder that He exists. Psalm 46 puts this idea beauti-fully when the Psalmist says, "Be still and know that I am God." Since this is the highest and purest form of prayer, it also gathers into itself all the other forms of prayer we have been considering. Praise for God since He is God alone marks Christian worship with a right or-dering and disposition. "Praise embraces the other forms of prayer and carries them toward him who is its source and goal: the 'One God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist'" (CCC 2639). What shouldn't surprise us at all, the Eucharist is the perfect form of praise since it is the memorial of Christ's perfect offering of Himself to the Father. In the Mass we enter into this once-for-all Sacrifice and are mystically made present at Calvary. Jesus, in His own Person and in His Passion, sums up all prayer and gives it to the Father in our name. "The Eucharist contains and expresses all forms pf prayer: it is 'the pure offering' of the whole Body of Christ ate the glo-ry of God's name and, according to the traditions of both East and West, it is the 'sacrifice of praise' (CCC 2643, italics in original). At Mass, we Christians enter the presence of God and give Him the glory, adora-tion and honor that are His by right. And in His su-perabundant love and care, He gathers our intentions and needs to Himself as well. Therefore, Mass is the privileged place of encounter with the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit.

The Fifth Annual Christmas Village and Toy Train Display
The Christmas Elves were in high gear this year with Lloyd Gibbs leading the pack. Andrea Bowen helped significantly with the careful preparation of all the vil-
lage structures. John Zadroga, Ron Meisner, Ron Costel-lo, Gordon Cochrane helped with the difficult task of planning the railroad layout and the grass scenery,
which is the foundation of the entire display. On Satur-day, Patrick Cook, Ron Costello and Ron Meisner assist-
ed in the construction of the two second level village displays and the important task of the power cords
needed for all the lighted structures. As a special treat this year, the world famous Hogan Amalgamated Trav-eling Circus has their two-ring Circus with at least sev-en elephants. And the popular circus train to carry the
animals. Come one come all .

Help us to Evangelize this Christmas! This year we are continuing our program of reaching out to the
families that come to Mass at Christmas. We want to welcome every-one back to our Parish and our Faith!
This is our first step.
We would like to give every family attending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses the book “Rediscover Jesus”, by Matthew Kelly. “Get answers to life’s tough questions, and encounter Jesus—and your-self—like never before.” For a $5 donation to our “Evangelize this Christmas”, you will be helping us to purchase three copies of this book; two will be given away to families at Mass and one will be yours to keep.
Our goal is to order 1000 books! We will be collecting donations for “Evangelize this Christmas” book
program from now until Dec. 18, 2017. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Name: _____________________________________________________________

Meet Father Cusack – Embracing his vocation, embracing God’s peopleFather Anthony Cusack grappled with his vocation as a young man. After hearing God’s call to the priesthood, he embraced a life of service to every person placed before him in ministry.
Recognizing the growing needs of ethnic communities, Father Anthony broadened his pastoral skills by learning to celebrate Mass in both Spanish and Vietnamese. This enabled him to accept his rst assignment at St. Ambrose and St. Mark Parishes in 2015.
Today, Father Anthony ministers in the heart of Dorchester. He engages the community in three very dierent languages. When summarizing his responsibilities, he describes personifying Christ: “The duty of the priest is, I think, to be Jesus to every single person he meets.”
To help ensure priests like Father Anthony receive essential care as they live out their vocation, please support the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust through the special collection this Christmas.
