SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 05, 2021 AFTER 09.00 AM MASS - ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE
The Knights of Columbus are hosting a Parish Barbeque on Sunday, September 05, 2021, following the 09.00 AM Mass. The event is free of charge, so we encourage everyone to come and share in food and fellowship with your parish community. ● We will be accepting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank if you are able to donate. The confirmation retreat for kids in confirmation program in Rocky Mountain House and in Sylvan Lake will take place on September 18th and 19th at a camp on Sylvan Lake. Program will include Sunday Mass, the remaining 8 sessions of the confirmation formation, games and free time. Parents, please watch your emails!
FIRST COMMUNION - MEETING

All parents of children who plan to receive First Holy Communion in our parish in 2022 are invited to this meeting. REGISTER YOUR CHILD by filling REGISTRATION FORM before the meeting or at the meeting. Download REGISTRATION FORM from our parish website or call the office for the registration form to be e-mailed, faxed or mailed to you - return the form to office in person, by mail, fax or e-mail.

INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY OF THE SUNDAY Joshua 24:1-2a, 15-17, 18b * Ephesians 5:21-32 * John 6:60-69
The immense love God has for his people prompts us to love in return. The theme for today’s readings is fidelity between God and his people. How loyal are we to Jesus? Are we able to take Peter’s words as our own? Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. How well do we even know the words of Jesus? Let us recommit ourselves to deepening our knowledge and love of the Lord. ● In the first reading, Joshua and the tribes of Israel state their fidelity to the Lord God. In his Letter to the Ephesians, Saint Paul draws a parallel between a spousal relationship and the radical love between Christ and the Church. In the Gospel, Jesus proclaims that his words are spirit and life, after which only some of his followers continued as disciples.
SUNDAY REFLECTION Today’s Gospel is the conclusion of the Bread of Life Discourse in the sixth chapter of the Gospel of John. This is the fifth Sunday in a row where we have reflected in the Mass on just this one chapter in the Gospel. No other chapter receives such attention in the Sunday liturgy. In this chapter, Jesus walked on water and fed thousands with the loaves and fishes. He has announced himself as the true bread sent down from heaven and made it clear that those who do not eat his flesh and drink his blood will not have eternal life. ● This is where the crowds took issue with Jesus. This is where they had to decide what they were going to do – whether they would choose to continue following him or not. And, for the first and only time in any of the Gospels, some disciples chose to stop believing in Jesus and would follow him no further: This teaching [about him being the bread of life] is difficult, they said, who can accept it?
Do you also wish to go away? Jesus asks the Apostles. Perhaps he is asking the same thing of us. Jesus’ life is about servant leadership and a total commitment to the fulfillment of the will of the Father. He gives himself to God and to us completely, especially on the cross and in the Eucharist. In Jesus, there is no room for self-doubt, a divided heart, or a lackluster effort. We must give an account of our faith. To express our belief in Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist, we come to the altar offering our Amen to his Truth. Thus, it is the grace of the Eucharist that gives us the strength to say with Peter, Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life.
