Same Water, Different Well: Christianity and Popular Culture Dr. Andrew Wilson, professor of religious studies at Mount Allison University, spends much of his time connecting to young adults around issues of popular culture. Having his ‘finger on the pulse’ of these young folks and the connections they make is a gift he offers to the rest of us who wonder how to connect and invite them into community with us. Using the Gospel story of the ‘Woman at the Well’, Dr. Wilson will help us make some connections between Christianity and Popular Culture. Join Andrew, at St. Mary’s Parish Centre in Newcastle on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30 to noon. Good will offering would be appreciated. For further information or to register please contact Patricia Lee at [email protected] or 622-5730.

A Piece Of Pumpkin Pie:
8-year-old Sally lived in the countryside with her family and hardly had any visitors from the city. One day, Sally’s mother informed her that daddy was bringing two guests for Thanksgiving supper. Everyone enjoyed the delicious turkey together, and now it was time for pumpkin pie. Sally went to the kitchen to help her mother with the pie. She proudly presented the first piece of pumpkin pie to her father, but he passed the plate to one of the guests. Sally came with the second slice of pie and father gave it to another guest. It was getting too much for little Sally, who blurted out, “It is of no use, Father. All the pieces are of the same size”.

Thank you in advance for your kind generosity. For those who have already given, we really appreciate your help. If we wish
our sponsorship application to be processed this year, we need all monies donated or pledged by the end of this October.
This will enable the family to come much quicker. We have been in contact with them and they are so exited to finally have a
sponsor. We don’t want them to spend an extra two years in the camp if at all possible. We need your help.
Thank you

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus healed ten lepers in today’s Gospel. Only one (ten percent) came back to say thank you. I, too, have received many blessings from the Lord — indeed, all I am and all I have is gift! How and how often have I remembered to thank Him?
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather with family and friends and reflect on the blessings of the last year. Many of us experience renewed hope and faith during the Thanksgiving holiday because we turn our eyes onto what is most important. What if we spent time each day in giving thanks and prayer? How could God grow out faith and trust if we lived a life of thanks through all seasons and not just Thanksgiving time? When your heart is filled with gratitude, there is little room to worry or complain.
Happy Thanksgiving
