Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings of Peace and Love!
I am sure, this summer has been different for all of you
than any other summer. The Covid-19 pandemic re-
stricted our summer holidays this year. Hopefully, you
all got some sort of break during January. Every year
in January I used to go to India for my holidays to
spend some time with my mum and siblings. However,
this year is different due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Let
us keep our loved ones united in prayer wherever they
may be. Our country is doing much better in their re-
sponse to Covid-19 pandemic, but we need to continue
our prayers for this Pandemic to stop in the world.
As you know, this coming Wednesday is Ash Wednes-
day. What are you giving up for Lent? That is a ques-
tion you may ask a friend or be asked yourself in the
coming days. I used to pose that question to school
children. The answers I got were the usual ones: “I am
giving up chocolate; I am giving up coffee; I am giving
up Ice creams etc”. Many Catholics are giving up some-
thing truly serious for Lent as reminder of the sacrifice
of Christ. The Catechism of the Catholic church re-
minds us that Lent is about more than giving some-
thing up, it is about really doing something. In
these challenging times, during Lent we have an
opportunity to observe seriously the three pillars
of the Lenten season… Namely, Prayer, Fasting,
and Almsgiving. Archbishop Coleridge said,
“prayer is giving more attentive listening to God,
turning away from a culture of self-absorption.
Fasting is turning away from a culture of consump-
tion which can become an addiction. Almsgiving is
giving to the needy what is their right, tuning away
from a culture of inequity”. I hope we all take this
Lent seriously and make a difference in our spiritu-
al life through a deeper practice of these
things.

First Reconciliation for children in Year 3 Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be in Term 1 next year. To be eligible for First Reconciliation, children must be in Year 3 or above and must be baptised. Parents wishing to enrol their children in the program must attend an information meeting, here on Tuesday 16th February 2021 at 7.00pm. Further information regarding the program will be given at this meeting.

mility and love, we are emulating Mary’s faith in His goodness. We are blessed in that we can ask both
God and His Blessed Mother for their assistance on our journey towards Eternal Life!
Hail Holy Queen
In the past, when the world has gone through enormous suffering due to war, epidemics, false teaching etc…
Catholics have turned to God through our Blessed Moth-er, who is our protector and intercessor. Therefore, after
every Mass, our parish community will recite the ‘Hail Holy Queen’ prayer and through this prayer we offer ourselves to God through the intercession of Mother
Mary. I hope you will all join with the priests to pray for the suffering world.—Fr. Joe Manjaly, PP
PRAYERS SAID AT MASS
A Working Bee will take place on Saturday 20th February from
9.30 am. We will be spreading Mulch in the garden beds. Your help will be very much appreciated. Kindly
bring gloves, buckets etc., to carry the mulch to the various locations.
Stations of the Cross Every Friday at 7pm, we will have Stations of the Cross during Lent. Please come and join us to pray the Stations of the Cross starting this Friday 19th Feb.
Ash Wednesday Mass times & Sig-up Mass times are on Wed the 17th of February at 6.45am, 9.30am and 7pm. There is a sign-up sheet in the Church Foyer for Ministers and Volunteers who wish to serve at one of these Masses. Thank you.
Altar Servers Recruitment We are looking for new Altar Servers! We are seeking the support of our boys and girls who have complet-ed the sacrament of Eucharist to consider being an Altar Server. Altar serving is an important Ministry in the Catholic Church. It is such a humble and rever-ent way of contributing to the Mass. The first train-ing session will be conducted on February 25th at 3:30 to 4:30 pm on Thursday. Please call the Parish office or email [email protected] to register your interest

As we enter this Lenten period let us spend time examining the attitudes of our own hearts. Let us by our own example of service open our hearts to each other and to those in need in our commu-nity.
• In our meeting Monday 15th February we will read the Gospel for – First Sunday of LENT - Mark 1:12-15. Our gospel reflection questions to think about are:
• How willing are you enter the ‘desert’ for 40 days of Lent
• What spiritual practices will you embrace during Lent? Can your ‘desert’ be prayer, fasting and giving alms (acting with kindness toward those less fortunate than ourselves)?
• Do you trust that the protective spirit of Jesus is with us just as God was with Him in his “desert experience”?

•We are now able to accommodate more people in the
Church using the social distance of 2square meters. This
excludes essential persons to the Liturgy.
•Please scan the Service NSW QR code outside the church or leave your name and contact details on the sign on sheet - these will be kept confidential- but are necessary in case any-
one contracts the virus. •Ministers/volunteers who are essential to the Liturgy must arrive and sign on at least 15 minutes prior to Mass starting.
•Please sanitize your hands as soon as you enter the church. •There will be one extra Mass at 10 am in the Parish Hall on Sunday if there is an overflow in the Church. The hall allows a
maximum of 100 parishioners on Sundays at 10 am. •The aisles and pews are marked to facilitate the observance of social distancing practices. Please only sit where it is
marked with a number on the pews. Groups to sit in smaller pews. There is no standing permitted. •Please occupy the central seat of pews first, starting from
the front pews of the church, so that others who come after you will be able to occupy the aisles while observing social distancing. • The congregation should not participate in any singing or
chanting •The sign of peace will be exchanged without physical contact. •During the communion, social distancing will be observed and
therefore communion will be brought to your seat. Communion should be received only in the hand. •Only one acolyte/ senior server and one extra-ordinary min-
ister of communion is required other than priests/ deacon to serve during the Mass. •Wardens have resumed taking up the 1st and 2nd collection.
The collection baskets now have long handles to minimise con-tact. Thank you for your stewardship. •As you prepare to exit the church please exit starting with
the rows that are closest to the entrances. •It is important for everyone to maintain physical distancing and follow all health and safety guidelines. Our utmost concern is the health and well being of our parishioners. Therefore,
those who are feeling ill, or who have symptoms of fever, cold, dry cough or sore throat should not come out to attend Mass but watch our live stream Mass at 10am on Sundays.
•There is a separate QR Code for the Church, Hall and Parish Office. You must sign in to those areas, each time you enter,
•The obligation to participate in Sunday Mass is still lifted.
