In the Gospel of Luke (16:10), Jesus tells us that we can not serve two masters. We have to decide who we want to serve in this life—God, or the world around us. Choosing to serve God means that we will be faced with challenges as well as choices and sacrifices. However, God’s love for us and the promises He has given us, are sufficient to face life’s challenges. Who are you willing to serve? Are you sitting on a fence? Who you serve is entirely up to you. ALTAR SERVER TRAINING Training for new altar servers for St. Paul Church will be held tomorrow, Saturday morn-ing, September 21st, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Church. Boys & girls in 4th grade and above are eligible. Contact Mr. Mike McGinn if you have any questions. [email protected]. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. (Psalm 43) DADS CLUB RAYS GAME– FAMILY OUTING Sunday, September 22nd 1:30 p.m.— Rays vs Red Sox. Last home game of the season. Tailgate picnic on parish grounds after the 11:30 Mass.

REMINDER - HEAD LICE PRECAUTIONS We had a case of head lice in 7th grade. Parents were notified and we began to do routine head checks. We ask that you take precautions by checking your child’s hair on a regular basis. Remind him/her not to share headbands, hats, combs, brushes, etc. When having sleep-overs, be careful that children do not share pil-lows, blankets, etc. Knowing what a tedious job it is to get rid of head lice, we thank you in advance for your cooperation in notifying the school if you find your child has head lice. Don’t hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions regarding head lice.

Philippians 4:5

“The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. SAFETY REMINDERS While doing morning duty in front of the school, we are seeing that some cars are traveling down 12th St. N. at a speed greater than what is legal in a school zone. Others are using 19th Ave. No. and again, at a speed that is above the limit. Let’s keep safe and respect the traffic speed codes on both 12th St. N. and 19th Ave. N. As a St. Paul Catholic School parent, thank you for being respectful and

courteous of the neighbors who live on these streets. ATTENDANCE Students are expected to be in their classrooms for opening prayer at 7:50. Therefore, students not in their classrooms at that time are marked tardy. Students who are tardy must be accompanied to the front entrance by their parent/guardian. The parent/guardian will sign the student in and his/her temperature will be taken before the child goes to the classroom.

PROMOTING GOOD STUDY HABITS– Cont. If we want our children to be self-motivated for success, instilling good study habits is a great place to start. Children often try to avoid homework. It isn’t that they don’t know how to do the work they just find excuses to avoid doing the work. 4. Use a When-Then Routine—things run smoothly when homework becomes a part of the daily schedule. Structuring the routine into a “When -Then” format allows homework to be completed before the distractions come back into the picture and the child pursues other ac-tivities. You can present the schedule as “When you’ve finished your homework, then you can use the phone.” or When you’ve practiced your spelling words, then you can play outside. Give the child some input into the daily “then” activity, and solidify it by sticking to the routine every day. 5. Instill Time Management– having a study routine is also a great way to learn time management—a crucial, life-long skill. Young children encouraged to carve out time for homework in daily routines are more likely to continue doing so in high school and college. Setting timers can help children dedicate a concrete amount of time to their work. They also help children manage transitions. Additionally, if children are wiggly, antsy, and unwilling to concentrate during scheduled study time, consider built-in breaks. These can be especially helpful for kids with ADHD. PRAYER INTENTIONS

Let us pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life as well as for our sick relatives, friends and benefactors especially, Bill Bunaisky, grandfather of Sofia Bunaisky; and Theresa Bard, grandmother of Megan, Caleb, and Sadie Fogarty. We pray also for our departed relatives Eduard Zacher, grandfather of Cray Neumann; and Elroy Riggs, great grandfather of Claire and Julian Coleman. Pray also for an end to the pandemic and for all those suffering from the COVID –19 virus. This week we welcomed back 4 students who were doing virtual learning. We look forward to the 4 students who are scheduled to return on Monday, October 12th. We look forward to the day when we are all back together. However, we know that some students/families are compromised and cannot return to school at this time. We are grateful to the teachers for go-ing the extra mile to make virtual learning possible for these students.
