OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Faith Community, Baptized into Jesus Christ, formed by Word and Sacrament, and Empowered by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Seek to be a visible sign of God’s love. We seek to build the Kingdom of God by: Using our unique gifts to minister to one another, Welcoming all and caring for those in need, Teaching our faith to others and Uniting in worship as a family with the Body of Christ.
Dear Holy People of God: In today’s gospel, Jesus said to the crowd: “… a man… sowed good seed in the field!” (Mt 13:24)
We’re the good seeds! And good seeds can always conquer any adversity in life. Even the closure of the Church! Masses have been suspended before, but we painstakingly hope for the Church’s re-opening. Our prayers have been answered. Although the “re-opening” was restrictive, we acknowledged it as a moment of grace, and a sea-son of recreating our hearts as a bank of a vibrant faith. Grace after grace have been showered upon us. It’s like the song, “Rain drops keep falling on my head…”
And second closure comes! Immediate reactions are varied: some say, “AGAIN?”; others say, “it’s Calvary, it’s Crucifixion,” still others lament, “it’s painful, when will this end”; and some will cry out, “Enough is enough!”
But we’re good seeds! We can weather this together, we can win this together. This is just a temporary setback. We are at our faith’s best when adversities come our way. We become stronger! You know why? Because we are created God’s image and likeness! We’re not a “hybrid-seed” but we’re life-forces begotten with the DNA of a loving God. We’re not genetically altered; we’re God’s beloved sons and daughter, he said: “These are my beloved sons (daughters) to whom I am well pleased.” (Mt 3:17) With that identity and honor running in our veins, God’s heart becomes our “holy shelter” forever!
Governor Newsom’s order is for us to “shelter in place.” There is only one letter difference between the instruction to “Shelter in place” and “Sheltering place.” That letter is “g!” “God” begins with a letter “g”. You add the letter “g” in to “Shelter in place,” and it will read “Sheltering place.” God is our “Sheltering place.”
As God is our “Sheltering Place” during this second closure of our Church, let us make the Psalm 91: 1,9,16, as our everyday prayer:
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, Say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Because you have the Lord for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold. No evil shall befall you, nor shall afflictions come near your tent, for to his angels he has given you, that they will guard you in all your ways.
I will deliver [you] and glorify [you]; with length of days I will gratify [you] and will show [you] my salvation. Amen.
Remember, as “good seeds,” God promises you, “See, upon the palms of my hands, I have written your name” (Is 49:16) Blessings,
Fr. Romy, Seleccion, MS, Pastor

GOVERNOR'S NEW ORDER On Monday, July 13, 2020, the Governor of California issued an order calling for a second closure of Houses of Worship – Effectively cancelling ALL sacramental celebrations.
The Emergency Operations Center of the Diocese of San Bernardino has reviewed the Governor’s order and made their recommendations to Bishop Barnes.
In light of the Governor’s order and at the recommendation of the Emergency Opera-tions Center of the Diocese of San Bernardino, the following will be implemented immediately:
Effective July 13, 2020, all churches in the Diocese of San Bernardino are close.
Let us once again find hope and strength in the words of St. Paul in his letter to the Romans: “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us.” (Romans 8:18)
Thankful for your ongoing prayers, support and generosity, we are able to continue our broadcast Masses on weekends and weekdays.
It is our hope, that as we continue to move forward, we may be able to bring you addi-tional spiritual experiences from the parish.
Wherever we are, wherever we may find ourselves, let us continue to pray with and for one another.
May we always find victory in the Cross of Christ.

Evangelization & Faith Page 7
T his week we read three of Jesus’s most famous para-
bles: the sower and the seed, the mustard seed, and the yeast in the three measures of flour.
What do all of these have in common? You might say they are stories about faith and how it grows and develops. This is cor-rect, but they also have some-thing else in common: the theme of patience.
The farmer who sows the seed has to wait until both the wheat and the weeds mature before he can begin to sort them out. If he uproots the plants too early, he risks destroying his crop along with the weeds. The mustard seed, which is miniscule, eventu-ally becomes a huge bush. But patience is required for the seed to take root and reach maturity. Finally, the woman who kneads the yeast into the flour has to wait for the bread to rise before she can bake it.
In all three cases, it’s necessary to wait until you see the final re-sult. You may know that there will be a crop of wheat, a large bush, and loaves of bread, but it takes time and patient waiting before you can see them. You have to trust in the process.
The same is often true with our desire to share the Faith. We want people to embrace the Gos-pel right away; we want an im-mediate, enthusiastic response to the Good News of salvation. It didn’t work like that in the time of Jesus, and it doesn’t today. Most of the time (there are always ex-ceptions), we have to sow the seed or mix in the yeast—and then sit back and wait. No matter how much we might want to rush things, we need patience as we wait for faith to develop … from tiny seeds and grains of yeast.
D IGGING DEEPER FOR ISCUSSION: FORMED
members can watch the short “Opening the Word “ VIDEO free at sptacc.formed.org Reflect on these following questions with a friend or family:
• What is the common theme in all three of Jesus’s para-bles in this week’s Gospel?
• Which one of the three par-ables in today’s Gospel (sower and seed, mustard seed, woman with bread) do you relate to the most? Explain how the parable might apply to your life?
P RAYER: Picture yourself in a kitchen. There is a large
bowl of flour on the counter and
a measure of yeast. Mix the yeast into the flour. Now imagine Jesus says to you, “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast.” What thought comes to mind? Is there a question you would like to ask Jesus about this? What does he say?
R ESOLUTION: Think of at least two ways you might be
“yeast” for the Kingdom in your family or your work. How im-portant is it to you to be that yeast?

We encourage you to take notes as you reflect on this week readings / homily
Faith & Patience
