RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The Religious Education Program is open from
9:30AM to 2:30PM, Monday thru Thursday and starting the week of the 27th only on Monday nights from 6:00PM – 8:30PM. Please call 429-8824 for more information. Registration for 2018 to 2019 is in progress. Please go to the office for more information, and do not wait until September to register your child. We will send out information for classes in September in August. We are looking for volunteers to teach religion to 1st thru 7th grades. We will have a week of preparation and understanding of the material being taught during the month of July. Just come to the classes and see if it’s something you can help us with. Pray about it and ask questions. Our children need you. The date for the classes will be posted in late June. The religious education classes are from early September to mid- May. Please continue praying for our students.
PARISH PICNIC
Over 400 people came to Bowline Park for our annual Parish picnic. We are grateful to Howard Philips, the Town of Haverstraw Supervisor and the excellent staff at Bowline Park under the direction of Michael Cotier and Amanda McGannon for the beautiful condition of the park. Our children were able to use the water park and the children’s pool. Our chefs served hamburgers, hot dogs, rice and beans, pork and turkey. Children and adults enjoyed games and a fun time together. We thank Abbey Ice for water, ice and a great refrigeration truck. Many people worked together to help our picnic be a success. Our thanks go to those who sold tickets; to those who cooked; to those who prepared food; to those who sold tickets; to those who helped with the games; to those who bought or donated food; to those who prepared food; to those who helped with the clean-up.

Our gratitude goes to all of those who bought tickets. Every ticket that was purchased contributed to the remarkable success that our 300 Club enjoyed. Evelyn Fit and Cathy Skae coordinated our 300 Club this year. We thank them for their work and dedication. Over $13,000.00 was raised this year. This money will help to pay for a new sound system for our church. This new system will help us to participate more fully in Sunday Masses and in the liturgies and prayers that we offer in our church.
RECTORY OFFICE SUMMER HOURS Please note on our bulletin cover the office hours for our rectory during the summer: Monday through Thursday 9AM to 5PM; Friday 9AM to 12Noon; Saturday closed.
CARDINAL’S APPEAL To date we have $46,263.00 has been raised from 250 donors through gifts and pledges. There is still time to make a gift or pledge to this year’s Appeal. Our contributions support many good and important works in our Archdiocese and in our parish communities. Thank you for your support of the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal for 2018.
PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA El Programa de Catecismo estará abierto los lunes hasta jueves de 9:30AM hasta las 2:30PM y a partir de la semana del 27 sólo en las noches los lunes de 6:00PM – 8:30PM. Por favor llame al 429 -8824 para más información. Las inscripciones para 2018 a 2019 están en progreso. Por favor diríjase a la oficina para más información y no espere hasta septiembre para inscribir su hijo. Le enviaremos información para las clases en septiembre en agosto. Estamos buscando voluntarios para enseñar catecismo a niños en los 1 º a 7 º grados. Tendremos una semana de preparación y comprensión sobre el tema que enseñara durante el mes de julio. PASADIA PARROQUIAL Más de 400 personas vinieron al Parque Bowline para nuestro Pasadía Parroquial. Estamos agradecidos de Howard Phillips, el Supervisor del Pueblo de Haverstraw y del personal excelente del Parque Bowline bajo la dirección de Michael Cotier y Amanda McGannon por la bonita condición del parque. Nuestros niños pudieron usar el parque acuático y la piscina de niños. Nuestros cocineros sirvieron hamburguesas, perros calientes, arroz y habichuelas, puerco y pavo. Agradecemos a Abby Ice por el agua, el hielo y por el camión refrigerado. Muchas personas trabajaron juntas para hacer de este pasadía un día exitoso. Nuestro agradecimiento a todos aquellos que vendieron boletos, aquellos que cocinaron, aquellos que prepararon la comida; aquellos que ayudaron con los juegos; aquellos que compraron comida y la donaron; aquellos que ayudaron con la limpieza.

WELCOME, FR. OSVALDO HERNANDEZ We welcome Fr. Osvaldo Hernandez who was ordained a priest three weeks ago in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We are grateful to God for blessing our parish with the first years of Fr. Hernandez’ priestly ministry. Let us pray that we will be a blessing for him.
HOW DO WE CELEBRATE MASS Tinamarie Stolz, who is from our parish and is currently a campus minister at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, has a wonderful reflection on awareness of what God provides for us at Mass our readiness to receive it. DAY FOR FR. JOSE Next Sunday, June 24th, we will honor Fr. Jose Cruz, as he moves from our parish to serve in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Washington Heights in Manhattan. There will be light refreshments after each Mass and at 1PM, a special dinner in our school gym. In order to prepare for his dinner we ask that those who plan to attend call our rectory office no later than this Monday, June 25th.
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST On the wall next to the tabernacle is an icon of St. John the Baptist. He proclaimed the coming of the Lamb of God which forms part of the prayer we offer as we prepare to receive Communion: “Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him Who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.” John prepared for Christ’s ministry as the Lamb of God; at Mass, we prepare to receive the Lamb who makes a gift of Himself for us in the Eucharist. This gift, we pray, helps us to prepare for the banquet of the Lamb in heaven where we will share in His joy and peace forever.
RENEW AND REBUILD Anyone who is having difficulty with a Renew and Rebuild gift or pledge is asked to contact our rectory office so that we can help with it. To date about 1/3 or 33% of our gifts and pledges have been paid. Thank you for your generous support. Completing our gifts or pledges means that we will have the resources for the projects we have planned: restoring our pews; putting a new floor under our pews; continuing to restore the stained-glass windows in our church.
FATHER’S DAY NOVENA Our annual Father’s Day Novena begins today, June 17th. Deceased and living fathers may be enrolled in this novena. Novena envelopes are in the boxed sets that our registered parishioners receive. Extra envelopes for those who need them are on the shelves by the front center doors of the church.
BENVENIDO PADRE OSVALDO HERNANDEZ Damos la bienvenida al Padre Osvaldo Hernández quien fue ordenado sacerdote hace tres semanas en la Catedral San Patricio. Estamos agradecidos a Dios por bendecir nuestra parroquia con los primeros anos del ministerio sacerdotal del Padre Hernández. Oremos para que seamos una bendición para él.
DIA PARA EL PADRE JOSE
El próximo domingo, 24 de junio, honraremos al Padre José Cruz, quien se mudará de nuestra parroquia para servir en la parroquia Reina de los mártires en Washington Heights en Manhattan. Tendremos refrigerios ligeros después de cada Misa y a la 1 nos reuniremos en el gimnasio la escuela para compartir una cena. Con el fin de prepararnos para esta cena pedimos que los que desean asistir llamen a nuestra oficina a mas tardar el lunes, 25 de junio.
SAN JUAN BAUTISTA
En la pared junto al tabernáculo tenemos un icono de San Juan Bautista. El proclamo la venida del Cordero de Dios que forma parte de la oración que ofrecemos mientras nos preparamos para recibir la comunión: “he aquí el cordero de Dios, he aquí el que quita los pecados del mundo. Bienaventurados los llamados a la cena del cordero. Juan se preparó para el Ministerio de Cristo como el cordero de Dios; en la Misa, nos preparamos para recibir al cordero que hace un regalo de sí mismo para nosotros en la Eucaristía. Este don, oramos, nos ayuda a prepararse para el banquete del cordero en el cielo, donde compartiremos en su gozo y paz para siempre.
RENOVAR Y RECONSTRUIR Cualquier persona que tenga dificultad con su regalo o promesa de renovación y reconstruir se le pide que se comunique con nuestra oficina de la rectoría para que podamos ayudarle. Hasta la fecha aproximadamente 1/3 o 33% de nuestros regalos y promesas han sido pagados. Gracias por su generoso apoyo. Completar nuestros regalos o promesas significa que tendremos los recursos para los proyectos que hemos planeados: restaurar nuestras bancas; poner un piso nuevo debajo de nuestras bancas; continuar restaurando las ventanas de nuestra iglesia.
NOVENA DEL DIA DE LOS PADRES Nuestra Novena del Día de los Padres comienza hoy, día 17 de junio. Padres que están vivos o padres que ya han fallecido pueden ser enrolados en esta novena. Los sobres para la novena se encuentras en la caja de sobres que los feligreses registrados reciben en sus casas. También hay sobres extras en los estantes de la entrada de la iglesia.
